Americanized. Carbonation was low. Too smooth and sugary. Body was heavy. Nothing very memorable. Sweet, low hop character. finol (528), Nacka (Stockholm), Sweden

| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Mar 11, 2009 I find this pretty disappointing--flying dog seems to have gone downhill in my book. Tripels are one of my favorites, but I won’t drink this one again. Lots of carbonation but almost no head. The flavor has a good bit of cardboard to it, with a thin body. Some sweet malt in the finish, but not enough to really make it good. maltdog (518), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2009 12-ounce bottle. Pale orange ale has a small, fleeting head and no lace. Yeasty/spicy aromas… banana, cantaloupe, coriander and hot cinnamon spiciness, caramel… against a backdrop of earthy funk. The flavor however, while appropriate, is disappointingly bland and evenly split between mild malt, fruit, and spice. Yeasty and caramelly. The palate is light and buttery despite scant carbonation. Smooth but seriously wimpy and uncomplex. Tripplebrew (505), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 1, 2008 Pours copper-colored clear with white head. Aroma is caramel malts. Flavor is caramelized and sugar with definite yeast. Floral notes. Body is creamy and light with medium carbonation. Derek881 (502), Frederick, Maryland, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 4, 2008 I had this on tap at the brewpub in Frederick before a tour. I was excited when I saw they made this style, but found the beer disappointing. The beer had a light amber-straw color with a thinner, foamy white head. An aroma of caramel malt, candy, and some citrus hops, but nothing truly stood out. The flavor was also a bit subtle and weak, mostly the sweet candy/sugar character was present. It had a thin mouthfeel, was a bit dry, and low carbonation. MadMan (497), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 11, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear yellow orange with thin white head. Aroma is sweet, lightly fruity, and very faintly spicy. Flavor has plenty of malty sweetness and some fresh biscuit leading to a somewhat yeasty, spicy, and dry finish. Carbonation is light and not all too active. Well hidden alcohol. Much better than expected. mhelgason (495), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 25, 2008 bottle. puny white fizzy (fully dissapating) head into clear golden body with almost no lacing present. aromas of moderate bubble gum yeast. flavor is initially sweet and finishes the same. alcohol is well hidden. moderat to long finish. medium body. dry texture. I must have a soft spot for any belgian styles.
