Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours pitch black with a small tan heads and an aroma of roasted malts, mocha, vanilla and toffee, The taste starts out medium sweet, with lots of roasted malts, black coffee, dark choclate, and brown sugar, but than turns little bit sour. The finish has a bitterness of both hops and coffee. Nice brew.

12 oz. bottle picked up from Brawley’s. This coffee stout does not mess around. It’s seriously black and heavy with loads of tasty coffee bean goodness. The aroma is a little metallic and not as powerful but the flavor took me by surprise and brought an onslaught of rich, roasty goodness. The palate is dense and suits the deep roast. This is a hefty and highly enjoyable coffee stout. Almost, just almost has the qualities of a Valdez or a Bells java stout.

Flavor is heavy malt (coffee, dark fruit, toffee, roast, chocolate), light hops (floral), and average esters (fruity) with notes of prune, licorice, and wood. Full body, medium warmth, carbonation, and creaminess with a lightly sweet finish.

TURDFERGUSON (3565) - Carrboro, North Carolina, USA - MAR 28, 2011
Dark brown pour with a mocha tan head and a reddish hue akin to a pinot noir. Nose of dark fruits, prunes, a little bit of cream, but not much coffee. Flavor is roasted malts, more dark fruits, light coffee. Creamy mouthfeel at first feels very thin as I drink more. Alcohol becomes a bit more evident as it warms. Boozy, coffee bitterness with a bit sugary cream thrown in.

cheap (3375) - Cheap Lager in Western, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 27, 2011
Thick oily pour like used 50W oil out of the ol shovel head. Smell is a little alarming, somewhat like volatile cleaning fluid, I think it curled some of nose hairs. Oh yes, the first taste is big, rude nasty & black, wew. Yep, you know this is a 9 percenter and more! Over the top and down the side. Has a deadning effect on the taste buds; so much so that I think its not rude any more for a nanosecend. Zippy nasty nagging nellie. I guess I know nothing on styles...this stuff is impy stout all the way and that’s why it rates so doggone high in this style; stout HAHAH. Suddenly I realize its burning off the sphincter on top of my stomach! Some weird off tartness appears out of nowhere and returns there. Runn run running around with a pointy coffee flavored object all over the place. Forgettabout it if you like mild stouts, this stuff is in yer face. Long bitter linger near end of sesssion. Getting a bit dizzy, gimmie another. Tastes a little better than that Jenny dog bite stuff.

pours very deep brown with a thin mocha/coffee colored head...retention and lacing could be a bit better. aroma smells of very fresh coffee with the faintest hints of cocoa, dark fruit, and tobacco. flavor is loaded with coffee, roasty malts, and faint anise. mouthfeel is thick and lively with a lingering roasty coffee finish. very nice coffee stout!

Bottle at the Bier Temple. Opaque black beer, thick frothy tan head. Smooth palate. Creamy dark malt with rich but very smooth coffee. Trace of minerals. No roughness or bitterness. A really nice coffee beer!

zizzybalubba (1153) - Elizabeth City, North Carolina, USA - MAR 25, 2011
12 oz. bottle from SoHo Organic Market in Elizabeth City, NC. Pours dark brown to almost black with a cinnamon brown head. Aroma of rich roasted coffee and vanilla. The flavor does have a generous coffee profile but there is a surprising amount of vanilla, coconut, and dark chocolate as well. There is some alcohol warmth. This is a really well done coffee (imperial) stout.

Bottle at Beer Temple, batch 2. Nice black body with big head. Nose is coffee and chocolate. Taste is also of chocolate and malts and coffee and vanilla. A bit softer and measured than I had expected. But a nice stout nonetheless.
