On tap. The pour is coffee, like the name, with a thick medium brown head of very fine bubbles. The aroma is chocolate or toffee. The taste is a real surprise with coffee notes and a very strong brandy finish. The alcohol comes strongly through, but not overpowering. A very enjoyable drink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown with little tan head. Thick sweet taste of licorice, coffee and chocolate. Medium body. Great dessert beer.

Flying dog has made a good chocolate stout. Although the price point is extremely high for the level of quality. The aroma and aftertaste are the high points of this brew. The chocolate cones through fantastically on the nose, and definately leaves a nice aftertaste. A nice warmth from the higher abv. This beer would be great if it was sold for the proper price. Probable 15-20% less. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours dark and creamy. Velvety brown frothy head that lingers on top of the brew creating these cool Rorschach type patterns . . . sorry. Too much acid in college. Great chocolate, syrupy aroma. The 9% abv is cloaked in this incredible coffee/cocoa cloak. Bittersweet finish. Very enjoyable stout. I dislike the current liquid "brownie/cupcake" stouts. They make me unhappy. This is not that stout.

Draught @ Haket. Pours black with a small creamy pale brown head that clings to the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly sweet with roasted malts, caramel, coffee, green chili, minerals, wood and hints of alcohol. Taste is sweet and slightly bitter with coffee, roasted malts, cocoa, bourbon, vanilla, wood and resin. Mouthfeel is silky and medium to full-bodied. Finish is sweet and slightly bitter with lightly roasted malts and vanilla.

Bottle thanks to Dmac. Pours out an almost black brown color with a fading tan head. Aroma is of coffee, roast and sweet alcohol. Taste is smooth light roast coffee, chocolate, light malty roast and a tad of sweetness in there also. Alcohol makes a slight appearance on the finish.

Dark coffee colored pour, not much of a head. Coffee is abundant. Then malts and vanilla. Very nice.

Botttle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours very dark brown with a creamy/bubbly dark tan head. Strong burnt/smoke malt with coffee for aroma. Full bodied. Flavor is chocolate/vanilla with a lot of smooth burnt malt and then strong coffee. It gives the illusion of sweet, maybe because it’s thick, but it’s burnt and dry. Of all things I am definitely getting banana in the finish. Weird and complex, but very tasty.

(Draught) Pours black with a brown head. The aroma holds fruits, vanilla, caramel and chocolate up front with undertones black currant candy, cold coffee, green bell pepper, earth and sweet liquorice. Not much coffee on the nose. The flavour is light sweet and medium bitter with notes of vanilla, round coffee, light fruity/resinous hops and dark bread alongside a touch of liquorice. The mouthfeel is round, soft and a bit velvety with a light to medium carbonation. Coffee, liquorice and friendly hops on the finish. Medium to full bodied.
