Shared by motortoddhead. Deep brown/black. Roasted malt, molasses, and roast coffee. Flavor is a semi-sweet mix of roasted malt, coffee, and brown sugar. Only slight acidity. Residual sticky, sweet and roasted malt. Good use of coffee on this one that bypasses the ultra-green aspects that I dislike in other beers.

On draught at Bunker’s in Vandalia. The beer pours dark brown with a medium thin and creamy tan head that dissipates steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted coffee and malt. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, coffee and butterscotch. The finish is roasty with a slight buttery aspect and a mild coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.

Opaque black, with minimal head. Aroma is coffee and sweet chocolate. Taste is very robust: coffee, chocolate and licorice dominated. Smooth finish.

Bottle. Opaque, black liquid with thick, medium to big dark tan head. Aroma of fresh ground coffee, spices, chocolate, vanilla, piney hops and caramel. Taste is fruity, light sweet, light to medium bitter with notes of coffee and fruity yeasty esters. Medium bodied with sticky mouthfeel and low to medium carbonation. Quite nice. Fruitier than I expected.

On tap. The pour is coffee, like the name, with a thick medium brown head of very fine bubbles. The aroma is chocolate or toffee. The taste is a real surprise with coffee notes and a very strong brandy finish. The alcohol comes strongly through, but not overpowering. A very enjoyable drink. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Flying dog has made a good chocolate stout. Although the price point is extremely high for the level of quality. The aroma and aftertaste are the high points of this brew. The chocolate cones through fantastically on the nose, and definately leaves a nice aftertaste. A nice warmth from the higher abv. This beer would be great if it was sold for the proper price. Probable 15-20% less. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
