Dark with a brownish tan head. Roasty and toasty with malty tastes coupled with a bit of coffee. Nice full and crisp finish.

A: Pours the typical pitch black colored body expected from a stout. Putting this bad boy up to the light yields none of it coming through. The tan colored head is a little disappointing, only two fingers with lowish retention/lacing, but itís no big deal. S: Thereís some coffee, and good coffee too - but itís a little mild in its strength. I do smell some chocolate, as well. T: The strongest flavor here isnít coffee - itís licorice. Notes of chocolate, roast, a hint of hops, and the tiniest amount of booze also exist; oh yeah, thereís some coffee, too. As a straight-up imperial stout, this is excellent, if somewhat unbalanced favoring the licorice. As a coffee stout, it falls short. It needs some more coffee character to counteract the roast and licorice; they could support it easily without upsetting the balance. M: A little thin bodied, but itís super creamy with low carbonation. The finish isnít as dry as I expected (definitely not as dry as Founders Breakfast Stout), yet I still get some of the coffee texture on the tongue, so extra brownie points for that. O: All in all, solid. Unfortunately, solid doesnít quite cut it next to Founders Breakfast Stout, as it lacks its immense drinkability and character. I hate to make the comparison, but given the quality of FBS, itís hard not to, unfortunately. Still, Iíd definitely give it another try.

Intense aroma of alcohol, raisins, oats and burnt caramel, almost similar to the aroma of a barleywine. Deep blackish purple in color with no foam. Taste is heavy alcohol and coffee upfront yet, remarkably smooth. Overall, a big beer with nicely balanced flavors of alcohol, coffee, caramel, raisins, black liquorice, oats and bread. Iíd give this an B+ rating.

Pours black, basically, with a small tan head. Aroma is surprisingly mellow, with roasted malt, chocolate and some coffee. A hint of vanilla. Iíd say the chocolate stands out more than the coffee despite its name. Taste is quite balanced, towards the sweet side up front, again with more vanilla, brown sugar and chocolate (not the very dark bitter variety). With time, more of the coffee and the dark chocolate comes through and the medium finish oozes of espresso and bitter chocolate. However, itís all over too soon. Mouthfeel is rich and creamy but overall the beer is a little too balanced for its own good. I tend to prefer my imperial stouts more bitter (e.g. Bells Expedition Stout), but I can appreciate the sweeter ones for what they are (e.g. Goose Island Bourbon County). This one, unfortunately, ends up in the middle and doesnít really stand out in any area. Itís still a very good beer. Just not spectacular.

Jet black, velvety pour with a decent biscuit lid. Bags of aromas leap out of the glass. Roasted malt, huge amount of coffee, prune, bitter peat, leather. On first sip you get bitter from the coffee. The bitterness morphs into sweetness from the chocolate and fruit. Kujo has a full bodied and complex flavour profile. Medium low carbonation and the alcohol is well balanced. Very nice indeed. Ps: Wifey thinks its good too! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Riktig trevlig doft av mörk kaffesump. Smaken är fin fin av stark kaffe och brända bönor. Trevlig eftersmak. Helgod. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Black with a large creamy, tan head. Quite a lot of Espresso in the aroma, also roasted malt. The same in the taste, and dark chocolate also notes of vanilla and chili. The body was medium and so was the carbonation. The finish was dry. A good beer!
