Dark pour. Smells of anise, liquorish, coffee. Pretty good stuff. Nice to have a spicy stout that I isn’t overdone. Tastes of cold fresh coffee. Not overly heavy. Good weight. Filling and smooth. Yum. Best Flying Dog beer in a awhile.

Bottle @ home shared with DutchDrebus. Stout with Black Dog Coffee indeed! Totally opaque pitch black. Don’t really like the strong coffee smell. Very thick texture, oily. Carbo and body very nice.

12 ounce bottle from State Line Liquors on 3/18/11. Pours a very dark brown color with a thin brown head that fades quickly. Aroma of sweet caramel malts, bitter hops in the finish and faint coffee notes. The taste is bitter coffee, sweet malts, mild roastiness and a nuttiness in the finish. Some muted hop presence. Medium bodied. Decent.

Nice thick and heavy coffee stout with alot of roast in the coffee. Very high in alcohol and hard to get down but very nicely made for the style, just not my favorite.

12 oz bottle purchased at Whole Foods in Fairfax, VA. Not sure why this isn’t sold in a 4 pk - only single bottles for ~$3. Light black pour with ruby highlights and a quarter inch tan head - develops into a nice creamy lacing throughout. Great nose filled with coffee, milk chocolate, vanilla and roasted malts. Medium body - very creamy and smooth. More chocolate, deep coffee and vanilla throughout the mouth. Sweet and smooth finish with dark fruit layers along with more chocolate / coffee. Great flavorful Coffee Imperial Stout.

Pours an opaque molasses black with an initially frothy brown head that reduces to nothing, a nothing that leaves light webbed lacing. The nose is of dark chocolates and roasted coffee beans. Flavors abound of deep luscious caramel, roasted coffee beans, Sanka notes, vanilla, smoked grains and light vinous cherries on the back end. The finish is of roasted bitter grains with estery vinous accents. The body is full, with a smooth drinkability and substantive, complex character. One of the best Impy Stouts I’ve tried, and very true to style and form... big, bold, roasted and grand on the pull. Prost!

Draft at Alchemy. Thick, opaque brown-black, nice rusty beige head. Sweet chocolate coffee aroma. Lots of coffee taste, quite well done. Soft carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. Vanilla, coffee, chocolate. Lots of syrupy sweetness. More mellow and more depth than typical Flying Dog product. Really well executed beer.
