Pours deep, dark black with a small mocha colored head. For a coffee stout, this doesnít smell much like coffee. I get a bit of dark chocolate and maybe even some fruit, but not much coffee. Sweet milk chocolate and a bit of molasses and caramel. The coffee does seem to be there in some capacity on the palate, but itís not all that strong. Otherwise, more chocolate, cocoa, and roasted malt with a subtle sweetness of toffee.

Bottle. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with fair lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted malt, chocolate and coffee aroma. Medium sweet roasted malt and coffee flavor with a medium coffee sweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a solid beer.

initial aroma of rubbing alcohol. flavor of alcohol and vanilla the beer is creamy and frothy with flavors of caramel and toffee with a fruity metallic composite that makes me think of plum pudding that is somewhat on the sweet side. a bit warming though muted the beer looks good in the pour and my bottles had a mocha head that dissapeared in some order. my kind of holiday beer. seems off balance yet with some intrigue. coffee in the alcohol with some deep dark chocolate. lingering rye hop finish.

Pours near black with a dark brown head. Smells like coffee and chocolate, but smell is not too lifted. Taste very smooth and creamy, with coffee, milk chocolate and sweet rich cola flavors. Pretty thick, but smooth and clean mouth feel. Coffee flavors are not over powering and not near as strong as other coffee stouts Iíve had, but this is a great brew.

12oz bottle, 2012 vintage. Super-dark brown color, a little brown head fading to minimal, bit of lace. Lighter, but kind of a sharp carbonation. Really dry texture... Normally I like that, but this may be too dry, takes away from the body a bit. Iím not sure how I feel about it. Really awesome bottle-art, probably the most impressive Iíve seen yet from FD. The aroma is awesome, delivers in the coffee department. You can easily detect it just from sniffing the glass, and it lasts through the aftertaste for quite a bit, along with just a bit of alcohol bite and some good oatiness. Great roasty-coffee bittersweet taste. Great beer, but itís super-fresh... Itíd be interesting to try a version of this thatís been aged for a year or more. I think the added smoothness would do wonders for this brew
