Poured this beer from the bottle into a pint glass to sample. The aroma featured mostly caramel malt with a touch of earthy and grainy hops and some light fruit notes. The beer was a very-clear and still rich amber color with a big foamy white head that had good retention, but average cling and lacing. The beer had a malty caramel flavor with light earthy and grainy bitterness mixed in. It had a medium-dense body with low to average carbonation and was a touch wet and creamy.

I remember drinking this and thinking "Why does this weak ass lager taste like such a hoppy pale ale?" Itís bitter in a way that isnít enjoyable and it has no fun qualities to make you come back for more.

BOD 250/15. Pours a clear medium amber that is light garnet in intense light. World class head volume, lacing and retention. Somewhat light nose of caramel and earthy hops. Medium body that has a somewhat creamy texture. Superb carbonation with an effervescent burst in the middle and a nice prickly finish. The flavor profile is very good. Reasonably intense, slightly complex and very well balanced. It begins with a slightly charred caramel that is more nutty than sweet. The middle brings a mild earthy hop bitterness and flavor. Underneath is the strongest caramel appearance. The finish is a slow fade of the above coupled with a subtle tart fruit note.

Nicely persistent foam. The aroma is weak, but suggests malt and a little fruit. Mouth feeling is tingling due to much carbon dioxide, but the taste does not fail immediately something. It has a tart fruity filling allowing only sporadic touches of caramel malt. Hop bitterness is intrusive. I think the hops are a little too dominant.

This is not a good beer. The best thing about it is the label. Malt is weak as are the hops. Itís like drinking weak coffee. No bite, no complexity. I would have poured it out but I was on a train.
