Wow, this is a good find. I’ve seen this stuff in my local Vons for many a moon and, perhaps for the rather funk label, I’ve avoided it....BIG, BIG mistake! This stuff is damned good! I love Amber Lagers and this is a delicious one, especially since it is a hybrid and has some ale characteristics as well. Very good.

Deep amber. Toasted malt, light sweet fruit, and some herbal. Smooth and medium body. Easy going but not something I'd go for all that much.

Well when it comes to colour it does exactly what it says on the tin: it’s amber and it also has a pillowy off-white head that sank into the beer leaving good lace around the sides of the glass. It has a particular stewed apricot sweet smell peculiar to amber beers. There’s also a lovely toffee character to it too. This is reflected in the flavour: biscuits, golden syrup, honey and toffees. Just lovely. I do like an amber lager. There’s a touch of bitterness but the lingering flavour is one of satisfying toffee. Delicious.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours amber with about a finger of white head. Aroma of caramel and light hops. Taste is about the same. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad.

Mörk bärnsten med smutsvitt skum. Bröd och mycket karamellsötma i doften. Lätt, lätt rostad smak med ännu mer karamellsötma. För söt och enkelspårig för mig.

Saccharine malty nose leads to sticky amber ale taste and mouthfeel; besides flat caramels and some lager bitterness, not much going on else in the way of hops or aroma. Now that my one-time favourite belgian amber ale Palm is becoming more hop-centered, it is disappointing to see an American amber ale move into the opposite direction and aim (?) for a Old European-style maltiness. Had this on the same day as Flying Dog’s Porter and can only hope their IPA’s and other beers in the sampler are less underwhelming - since I was looking forward to visiting them on a roadtrip through Maryland in September...

Amber pour no head very minimal lace. Aroma of wheat, barley, hops and malt. Taste is the same. Gives me a headache if I sip too fast.

Bottle into a goblet. Pour is a middle amber with a good head that pulls back fast. Taste is more ale than Lager, hop and than malt. It has a nice hoppy finish. I realy like this beer.

Clear amber pour 1/2-1 inch head slowly diminishing with lacing. Carmel bready notes, slight sweet fruit orange like, more of a carmel candy slight yeast.A little mineral/fresh water. Taste is full medium/full bodied with carmel sweetness slight mineral a mild citrus maltyness with longer carmel notes with a little toffe/roast.Little bit of a harsh bittering but not that bitter, maybe a roast astringency that lasts shortly. Not bad

Bottle. Pours amber with a diminishing white head. Malty nose. Slight floral hop flavour. A little citrus too. Lagery. Pretty forgettable stuff.

Pours a nice deep red colour, a little cloudy. Not much head, but lots of carbonation. Smells of hops. Palate is pretty light, though not unpleasant. Tastes a bit hoppy, a bit metallic. Not memorable. Bottle from Wegman’s craft your own sixer in Niagara.
