Nice stout with coffee and roasted aromas; it is well balanced; perhaps some mild salty brininess but this is pretty distant.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Moderaate toasted and strong coffee notes for the malt, light herbs and earth for the hops and yeast with a hint of paper in the background. Head is small, fizzy/frothy, light brown with a few spots of slippery lacing, and is fully diminishing. Color is dark brown. Flavor starts moderately acidic, and finishes moderately to heavily bitter and a little salty. Palate is on the lighter side of medium, watery with a fizzy carbonation and a dry finish. An okay drinker, just a little flat in the flavor, typical for a Dry Stout I guess.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Thick beige head and nice lacing sit atop the dark body. Roasted malts suggest coffee and chicory in the aroma. Decently carbonated, medium-to-full bodied mouthfeel. Despite some sweetness, the taste remains solidly roasted malts, with the edge that the oyster shells contribute. Lingering finish; enjoyed on a chilly evening.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared with Finn at the Rake, Borough. Lasting tan-coloured head leaving good lacing behind. Near black body. Mild smoked malty nose, hints of almond and earth. Peaty taste mixed with bitter dark malts that lingers in the mouth for quite a while. Well bodied. Likable (London, 04.11.2012)

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle, 355 ml. Pitch black color, head is too weak and with no lacing at all. Aroma is also too weak, bread roasty malt, a little of coffee as expected. Light palatea, very easy to drink, nice finish, a little astringent. Bitter and easy (but not simple) flavor, slightly salty. Good one, but a step lower than the expected from a Flying Dog.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Firkin at Piper’s Pub. Pours black with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malt with salty overtones. Flavor of roasted, charred malt, some chocolate, with sharp biting, spicy hops in the finish. Dry, chalky palate. Interesting and tasty.
