Bottle shared with Finn at the Rake, Borough. Lasting tan-coloured head leaving good lacing behind. Near black body. Mild smoked malty nose, hints of almond and earth. Peaty taste mixed with bitter dark malts that lingers in the mouth for quite a while. Well bodied. Likable (London, 04.11.2012)

Bottle, 355 ml. Pitch black color, head is too weak and with no lacing at all. Aroma is also too weak, bread roasty malt, a little of coffee as expected. Light palatea, very easy to drink, nice finish, a little astringent. Bitter and easy (but not simple) flavor, slightly salty. Good one, but a step lower than the expected from a Flying Dog.

Firkin at Piper’s Pub. Pours black with a thick tan head. Aroma of roasted malt with salty overtones. Flavor of roasted, charred malt, some chocolate, with sharp biting, spicy hops in the finish. Dry, chalky palate. Interesting and tasty. 7/4/8/4/14 (3.7/5)

Stark dunkelmaziger Geruch, Schokolade, säuerliche Nuancen. Start säuerlich-malzig. Mitte malzschokoladig mit würzigen Tönen. Bitterschokoladiger Abgang, leicht süßlich. Bittert lange nach. Legt im Schluß deutlich zu und rettet das Bier aus dem Keller.

Bottle pours dark brown with ample tan head. Aroma of beaded malts. Flavors of sour cherries, roasted malts, brown sugar, and vinegar.

Dark brown color, with average head and body. Modest roast aroma and flavor. I love oysters---but couldn’t catch their influence.

Best before February 22, 2013.
Appearance: The beer pours a dark brown but is pitch black in my glass, only a thin tan head with poor retention, leaves a thin coating and a messy ring.
Aroma: Roasted malts and cocoa, make up the aroma, there’s a slight brine, though it could be me adding it mentally due to the style of the beer.
Taste: Roasted malts and cocoa are on the intro with a light smoke, there’s a light brine here that shows up a bit on the finish. The finish is rather dry and leaves a light smoke lingering.
Palate: Medium body, oily texture, and a fair amount of lightly fizzy, lightly sparkling carbonation.
Overall: I like this except on the finish, the finish has this dry light brine and smoke combination that lingers. This is decent, but it’s just the finish I don’t like, it detracts from the overall experience for me.

Bottled. Pours a deep dark brown/ruby with a finger thick, neverending creamy beige head on its top. The aroma brings caramel, vanilla, earth and mild roasted malt along. Slick, somewhat creamy texture. Sweetbitter and tannic finish with coffee malts. Enjoyable one.

Bottle. Pitch black beer with a strong head. The aroma is very reasonably roasted and the flavour is roasted and malty with a good amount of bitterness. Overall a reasonable stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
