Bottle at home, jet black pour with minimal head. The aroma is briny with roasted malt, cola, coffee. The flavor follows suit with a fresh marine note. Very dry and well attenuated. Bitter and roasty finish, with a touch of salt.

BBD 226/14. Pours used motor oil black with a nice head. Outstanding lacing and average retention. Nice nose of chocolate, anise and roast over a slight salty sea note. Light medium bodied with a smooth texture that approaches slick. Below average carbonation with almost no effervescence on the finish. Extremely well balanced flavor profile that has some complexity, but is not as intense as Bell’s Kalamazoo or FBS. It begins with a chocolate note that flows into a slight roast bitterness. Underneath is a very subtle saltiness. The finish is smooth and the finish leaves you with a lingering chocolate bitterness and a touch of salt.

Bottle to stout glass. Black pour with beige head. Aroma is total chocolate, roasted malts, faintest bit of brine/salt. Taste is chocolate, malts, bit more saltiness. Finish is decent with a slick mouth and moderate carbonation. Really like this one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Geen schuim. Mooi zwart. Milde geur. Moeilijk te bepalen wat de smaak is. Milde smaak. Oesters? Ik haal het er niet uit. Wel een prettige stout maar niet opvallend.

The chocolate overpowers any other aroma with this dark brown brew with a light brown head. The aroma is pretty typical of most stouts. The taste is chocolately with a hint of the sea. A touch of saltiness through out the sip and slightly in the aftertaste along with the bitter and chocolate. The faintest hint of oysters comes through. Ever so slightly in this full bodied brew with decent carb.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with small, creamy, beige head and nice lacing. Aroma is of toasted malt, bread crust, herbal hops and see bay. Body is medium and smooth. Taste is of toasted, bready malt, coffee, salt, oysters, brown sugar, burnt grain and herbal hops. Finish is long, bitter, and salty. Very nice brew, would be classic with shellfish.

12 oz bottle from notes. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have dry roasted malt, mild dark chocolate notes, some earthy bitterness with some brine to the finish. Decent enough for what it is.

Reviewed from notes. I’ve always had this in pint glasses. The appearance was a nice dark brown close to black color with a decent half finger white foamy head that dies at a nice pace and leaves a light lacing about it. The smell was dry and dark and roasty. Honestly, I really didn’t get much of any "oyster"/brininess of any of the sorts. The taste was mainly just dark and roasty. On the palate, it sat at/about a light to medium in body. The carbonation was fairly good for the style and for me. It was slightly dry but not too sharp. Overall, I say this was a decent Irish Dry Stout worthy of having again, but not much of an "oyster stout."
