2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
There is a fine line between complex and all over the place. Pours pitch dark with very little head, releasing a pleasant, smoky aroma. The uneven taste varies with every sip, ranging from roasted coffee, to coal and nutty to bitter caramel. Amid the myriad flavors, I simply couldn’t detect what the oyster bit contributed.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled, 355ml from S.H Jones, Banbury. Black with light brown head. Sweet and fairly thick on the palate, there is a fruity tone to it, plummy and sweet strawberry perhaps. Reasonable depth, some roasty notes, a hint of tar. It’s ok.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a very deep red color, almost black. Aromas of liquorice and cacao suggest a strong, deep taste. Taste is bitter with roasted tones and something a littlebit salty. Carbonation is a little bit too high, which gives a light tingling soury taste. Could have done with less carbonation. Dry mouthfeel. Compared to other Flying Dogs this one disappoints me a little.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Impressive really, a bit maltier than others I’ve had. Still with a nice minerality but rich with milk chocolate overtones and a nice roast. Good stuff.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Interesting beer on the palate. Flavor notes change between a chocolate, roasted flavor, coffee, etc. Seems to come off a bit flat.
