Coffee and yeast. Good mouthfeel, with a nice balance of hops and roasted malts. However, the development is a little bit short and flat, but is nice beer anyway.

Pours black with a khaki head. Roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, caramel and slight ocean aroma. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, salt, molasses and hop flavors. Medium full body and creamy mouthfeel. Chocolate, coffee and saltwater finish.

Pours a delicious black, almost coal like in colour with a creamy head. Has an aroma of coffee to it but not very strong. A hint of chocolate in the taste with a bit of fizz but not a great deal. Overall a nice stout.

12 oz. bottle poured to a Czech-pils glass, displaying a nearly opaque, black/brown hue, with some ruby highlighting at the base, persistent, creamy & frothy head foam, and all kinds of cling from the waves, ribbons, & spots of lacing. The nose was roasted & malty, with a lightly briny/dockside scent, and a touch of molasses sweetness. The taste added a moderate, roasted, earthy, & lingering hop bitterness, with average carbonation, a better than medium body, and a nice silkiness to the mouthfeel. A very flavorful Stout with just a hint of the sea to make it interesting.

I have to admit, I was somewhat terrified to try this beer. Oysters to me taste like rich delicious meaty goodness crossed w/ the most terrible fishy taste I can imagine making them both appealing and repulsive--which is somehow worse than them just being repulsive. Thankfully, I do not taste oysters in this beer. (Perhaps by brewed w/ oysters they mean they boys at Flying Dog were just chillin’ w/ their oyster boys while they brewed this something, I dunno.) In any case, this is a fairly average stout, I’d say: medium sweet, medium roast character, medium carbonation and medium bodied w/ no off flavors or anything wrong going on at all. It is a bit raisiny w/ slight chocolate and coffee notes. I had my wife taste it--she is a great lover of oysters--and she feels it would be a perfect match for them so, you know, try the combo if you like to partake and let us know how you feel.

"i dog this style and this one fits the bill, though not elite or anything. Slightly more brine in the aroma than taste, but present in both. Otherwise a nice malted chocolate and roasted malt stout. Light to medium bodied and pleasant."

Bottle from Beer Heroes stand at Nantwich Beer Festival 2014. Pours a black colour, strong chocolate aroma and taste, roast malts, thick mouthfeel

Bottle: Deep brown pour, appearing almost jet black in the glass. Light-tan head bubbles up & recedes quickly to a foamy collar. Aroma of slightly milky chocolates, mild cream, moderately roasted malt, perhaps a little dry coffee, & very light licorice. It takes kind of thin; a little watered down. More black licorice, a lot more dry roast, notes of slight ash & char coming out as well. Not getting any of the aromatic sweetness or cream. No signs of oysters, either. Relatively thin body. Smells like a sweet milk stout. Tastes like an overly charred dry stout. Just decent.

Black body with a thin white head. Roasty coffee like aroma and a flavor of deep coffee with a smooth slight salty roast. Medium bodied and clean.
