pours dark brown with a tan head. nose packs a punch of roasted malts, with smoke and maybe sweet vanilla in the background. taste is more roast and malts, along with coffee and earth - also some stong mineral/salty notes that i haven’t typically encountered in a stout. dry, with very mild bitterness and light to medium mouthfeel.

12oz served in a snifter. A - Pours very dark brown almost black with a thin tan head that forms a seal aroung the edges of the glass. Specks of lacing left around the glass. S - Roasted chocolate malts, anise, molasses, caramel, smoked nuts. T - Roasted/smoked malts, hints of cocoa, some raisin and molasses sweetness, overall very dry though. Suggestions of smoked oysters. Finishes with a clean saltiness and a smoky cacao aftertaste. M - Medium body, moderate carbonation, chunky feel. This was my first oyster stout and it was quite good. The oysters were subtle but really added to a solid English stout. This would pair well with food or by itself. Serving type: bottle 09-25-2012

355ml bottle from drinkstore, enjoyed at home. Pours (with quite a fizz) a very dark brown, bordering on black, with a thick tan foam that quickly dissipates. No lacing. Aroma is a complex blend of herbs, chocolate, molasses and nuts. Taste is equally complex, with a slightly astringent metallic start opening up to release a delicious blend of slight chocolatey sweetness, barley bitterness and a slight herby edge from the oysters. Finish is quite lively for a stout, but nice and dry, leaving a level herby aftertaste. Only my second of the style, but quite delicous, I have to say.

Not impressive as a stout. Tastes like they’re using shucked smoked oyster shells. That what a garbage can of those MFer’s smells like anyway. This isn’t a beer for anyone in food service, too close to bad kitchen oder. Bitter for the claimed IBU. Just a weird beer.
