Flying Dog Brewery will celebrate its 20th Anniversary a few months early on Friday, September 25th (the brewery turns 20 next year). The brewery will be sampling the new Raging Bitch Belgian-style India Pale Ale at the Flying dog Brats And Gonzo party in Denver that day as part of the Great American Beer Fest happening that week (unscramble the FBAG acronym to get GABF). More info about the fest can be found on the official Flying Dog blog. The beer also appeared on draft at this past weekend’s Gonzofest party. Al from Hop Talk was in attendance and reported on his blog, “I understand it’s made from an augmented Snake Dog wort with an exclusive Belgian yeast strain (called Diablo) and dry-hopped with a load of Amarillo hops. They’re calling it a Belgian IPA. It was really good. It had that hop bite from a big, bad American IPA with the banana and bubblegum from the Belgian yeast.” Some may remember a beer called, Raging Bitch Birch Beer, that Flying Dog introduced on April 1st. Whereas that low-gravity series beer was a joke, this beer is anything but at 8% ABV (60 IBU). Propaganda from the label: “Two inflammatory words…one wild drink. Nectar imprisoned in a bottle. Let it out. It is cruel to keep a wild animal locked up. Uncap it. Release it…stand back! Wallow in its golden glow in a glass beneath a white foaming head. Remember, enjoying a RAGING BITCH, unleashed, untamed, unbridled – and in heat – is pure GONZO!! It has taken 20 years to get from there to here. Enjoy!” – Ralph Steadman

Bottle. Slight caramel malt, a touch of citrus hops but heavier on the pine, a bit sticky, malty, rich, yeast presence, a little spice. Very good. Enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Deep copper with medium off white head and nice "Belgian" lacing. Aroma of Belgian notes and floral and spice hops. Medium body with a nice hop bitterness, notes of citrus and caramel, and a bitter finish.

Anbefales klart. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma: citrus, dough, basement aromas, butterscotch, lemongrass Apperance: dark gold color, appropriate white head, hazy Taste: medium bitterness, lightly sour Palate: full body, bitter finish, slightly astringent Overall: lovely blend of yeast, the body reminds of me Brackie Imperial IPA - Grand Prix 2013 yet with a sharper bitterness. The Bitch is less intensive ly hopped but wreaks havoc in the mouth with more Amarillo content and bubblegummish Belgian tripel aftertaste that is not killed by the hops. 355 ml bottle Drinks of The World Zurich

(Drinking date: 9 March 2014) Hazy amber/orange coloured beer with a small layer of foam. Lovely aroma of citrus hops, caramel and yeast. The aroma could be more powerfull. The taste is sweet and bitter. It starts sweet, a bit of a fruity sweetness. But the beer is especially bitter, pretty bitter taste from the hops. However the aftertaste is not so nice, it is a kind of medicinal bitterness, which stays for a long time. The mouthfeel is perfect. Nice thick, and the carbonation is not too heavy and not too less. Overall, this is a really could beer, but there are better heavy IPA’s, with a more powerfull aroma and a better aftertaste for example. But still, I am really enjoying this beer, that’s why I give it the total score of 3.9

Very hoppy with lots of flavor. Has a nice floral aroma and taste quality. Very drinkable for the higher alcohol content ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
