COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Flying Dog Brewery will celebrate its 20th Anniversary a few months early on Friday, September 25th (the brewery turns 20 next year). The brewery will be sampling the new Raging Bitch Belgian-style India Pale Ale at the Flying dog Brats And Gonzo party in Denver that day as part of the Great American Beer Fest happening that week (unscramble the FBAG acronym to get GABF). More info about the fest can be found on the official Flying Dog blog. The beer also appeared on draft at this past weekend’s Gonzofest party. Al from Hop Talk was in attendance and reported on his blog, “I understand it’s made from an augmented Snake Dog wort with an exclusive Belgian yeast strain (called Diablo) and dry-hopped with a load of Amarillo hops. They’re calling it a Belgian IPA. It was really good. It had that hop bite from a big, bad American IPA with the banana and bubblegum from the Belgian yeast.” Some may remember a beer called, Raging Bitch Birch Beer, that Flying Dog introduced on April 1st. Whereas that low-gravity series beer was a joke, this beer is anything but at 8% ABV (60 IBU). Propaganda from the label: “Two inflammatory words…one wild drink. Nectar imprisoned in a bottle. Let it out. It is cruel to keep a wild animal locked up. Uncap it. Release it…stand back! Wallow in its golden glow in a glass beneath a white foaming head. Remember, enjoying a RAGING BITCH, unleashed, untamed, unbridled – and in heat – is pure GONZO!! It has taken 20 years to get from there to here. Enjoy!” – Ralph Steadman

Malty aroma, bread and some caramel. Hints of pine. Pours golden with an ok head. Quite bitter flavour, citrus and orange. Feels a little bit oily and lively. Quite long. Fine beer.

Nice beer. Quite malty, with good hop support. Bread and caramel flavours to start, and lingering bitterness to finish.

UPDATED: MAY 8, 2016 Bottle. Color of copper, red orange and shiny with a medium fine rocky head. Aroma is a complex mixture of fruity and malty notes. Berries and plum along with spices and pepper. Sweet core embodied in a medium bitterness with a quite spicy finish. Thick body with medium carbonation, smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is fruity, berries, sherry and plum with light caramel notes, clove and quite a bit if pepper. Leaves a bitter, light fruity aftertaste.

High sweet, high bitter, with biscuits, peach, orange, grapefruit- nice mix of belgian and american notes. Beer is also intense, agressive, perfect name for it. High saturation and dry, as belgian style IPA should be. Overall: one of the best belgian IPA’s I’ve had so far.

lBottle - dark orange color with a creamy disappearing head. Nice Aromas of Grapefruit, Apricots, Orange, bound into an easy malty body. Bitter ending. It’s okay but to be honest I expected stronger aromas, a real hit-in-your-face, conidering that they relate to hst and call this beer "a raging bitch, unleashed and untamed"

Aucun arôme, ce qui est très surprenant pour une ipa. Belle couleur cuivrée. En bouche, amertume et épices. Un peu bizarre.

Bottle from the Maypole, Cambridge. Orange/brown with some clear white head. Yeast, golden plum and dried papaya scent. Hint of fairground candyfloss. Its not as strong an aroma as I thought it’d be. Tastes gorgeous with the yeasty sweetness overpowering a dry earthy hop bitterness. Medium to long finish, bubblegum and strawberry in the aftertaste. Well put together, and worth drinking, but the price and ABV might put me off having more of these!

UPDATED: JUL 14, 2016 Nice fruity and pine aroma. Amber to red color, medium but short head. Medium bitter, underneath some obvious sweetness.
