COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Flying Dog Brewery will celebrate its 20th Anniversary a few months early on Friday, September 25th (the brewery turns 20 next year). The brewery will be sampling the new Raging Bitch Belgian-style India Pale Ale at the Flying dog Brats And Gonzo party in Denver that day as part of the Great American Beer Fest happening that week (unscramble the FBAG acronym to get GABF). More info about the fest can be found on the official Flying Dog blog. The beer also appeared on draft at this past weekend’s Gonzofest party. Al from Hop Talk was in attendance and reported on his blog, “I understand it’s made from an augmented Snake Dog wort with an exclusive Belgian yeast strain (called Diablo) and dry-hopped with a load of Amarillo hops. They’re calling it a Belgian IPA. It was really good. It had that hop bite from a big, bad American IPA with the banana and bubblegum from the Belgian yeast.” Some may remember a beer called, Raging Bitch Birch Beer, that Flying Dog introduced on April 1st. Whereas that low-gravity series beer was a joke, this beer is anything but at 8% ABV (60 IBU). Propaganda from the label: “Two inflammatory words…one wild drink. Nectar imprisoned in a bottle. Let it out. It is cruel to keep a wild animal locked up. Uncap it. Release it…stand back! Wallow in its golden glow in a glass beneath a white foaming head. Remember, enjoying a RAGING BITCH, unleashed, untamed, unbridled – and in heat – is pure GONZO!! It has taken 20 years to get from there to here. Enjoy!” – Ralph Steadman

UPDATED: OCT 16, 2011 Pours up golden brown with a nice thick head. It smells nice and sweet. The flavor is nice and smooth with just a bit of a dry aftertaste. This isn’t out of the ordinary for IPA’s except for the smoothness. I would expect a beer named "Raging Bitch" to be much harsher. This is quite a good beer, and an exceptional IPA.

Bottle from Csakajosor.hu. Poured with a golden, almost orange color with a decent off-white head. Aroma is amazing, citrus-peel, pine, grapefruit, apple, vinous balanced with caramel, honey and malts. Nothing is overwhelming here, the beer is very well balanced. A moment of sweetness in the beginning that moves into a solid hoppy bitterness that just gives you the chills. Dry finish, with more hops on the way. This is truly a worthy beer to celebrate a great brewery, well done and thank you!

Birra dal colore ambrato carico, con luppoli americani in grande evidenza, bilanciatissimi da un corpo robusto e strutturato. Strepitosa.

Fantastic IPA. Not really comparable to much others in its class. Very high alcohol content for the price and taste, and the IBU is just right for the flavor. The aroma is a bit citrusy and warm. It pours great, but I prefer drinking from the bottle. The packaging is a bit unreliable sometimes though. I will occasionally get tilted labels, and soggy underside of the 6 pack container. Other than that Raging Bitch is one of the finest IPAs i’ve found thus far.

Very nice aroma. Great orange coloring. Full body filled with fruit and spices. Not a big fan of the after taste and the sensation in the back of the throat. Goes down a little tangy. But overall great drink. Puts a bit of hair on your chin, for sure.

Beautiful amber color. Aroma has subtle aromas of apricot and spices like cinnamon & nutmeg. Initial bite is dull and slow. Lasting bittersweet palate, with more of an emphasis on the sweeter side. Fruity & floral notes. Ends with a hoppy semi-sweet finish.

One of the best beers ever. Had it several times in bottle and few from the tap. Great amber color...hoppy aromas, with a belgian touch. Bitter sweet taste, with the belgian yeast as a main character. Very nice long after taste. AMAZING BEER.

Super sweet malty, rich hoppy aroma. Red gold appearance, casts an orange red glassy glow on the skin behind as teh light shines through. No head, minimal layer of bubbles, white. Really malty, I remember this beer as a particularly hoppy one but this time the sweet caramel, biscuity malt is most noticeable but with a distinctive bittering form the hops. Tiny bubbles like millions of darts pepper the tongue and although thin, the texture is fitting.

Bottle from the Post Office Vaults, Birmingham. I love this beer, it’s a wonderful mix of sourness, fruity funk and mangoes, kiwi and tangerine. This is so refreshing and not too bitter. Smooth as a whistle. Lovely stuff.
