3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I’ve had this a few times-just hadn’t sat down to review it yet-this is a live review.
A-Body is a pale completely transparent bronze colored body. Bubbles can be seen steadily rising to the top. Pours with a 2 finger or so head. Some lacing is left behind in the glass.
S- Overall impression of the nose is sweet an bready. Floral and slightly grassy hop overtones are present as well as a mild yeasty funk.
T- Flavor is similar to the taste-but is quite a different story. The big bitter floral and grassy hop profile chimes in right away with a sugary sweet bready yeast backbone, and a hint of funk. All the flavors intensify for the finish and the hops fade a bit but then come back in with a bitter floral lash. This lingers on for awhile with a mild spiciness.
M- Medium to high carbonation and lightweight full body.
D- This is a very good beer overall and one of the best that flying dog makes. Over the past year or so I have become a HUGE fan of Belgian IPAs-and while this one is good and definately fits to the style it doesn’t measure up to a lot of other great examples of the style.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap@Tilt in Oslo in large tulip glass@approx 7 degrees C. Pours dark, almost clear orange with off white head with ok retention. Aroma of yeast, hops, citrus as in grapefruit, lemon and pomerance. This is also reflected in the taste though this becomes somewhat heavy and does not really hit neither the Belgian nor the IPA tastes for me. Bitter and not too well balanced. No doubt this is an interesting beer and I hope to re-rate a day where I do not hit it in a bar somewhat late at night. But for now, I think it is complex and interesting, but not sufficently balanced to be a great.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Amber with average head. Sweet with fruity hops. Little pine resin. Creamy malts. Quite sweet and not overly bitter for an IPA. Interesting but maybe a bit too sweet.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from the Kings Tun JDW, pours a deep orange-amber with a lasting white head, aromas of pine, bitter orange, caramel and a little funky horse blanket. Rich and dry-sweet with a faintly sour and dry bitterness. Spicy funky Saison notes and toffee, more bitter orange and a dry alcohol bite. Fascinating!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Clear deep golden colour with quickly falling white head. Aroma hops, orange, orange zest, floral. Caramel in aroma. Taste bitter hops, caramel and maybe some yeast. Alcohol in taste. My expectations from taste based on aroma were higher. Bitter aftertaste. Good one.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz single bottle from Molly’s Spirits. Dark orange and clear appearance with a lingering off-white head. Big, mostly Belgian aroma of banana, bubblegum, earthy yeast, floral notes, light citrus and light peppery spice. Similar flavor, with medium to heavy bitterness balanced by light caramel malts. Medium to full body. Not very balanced, kind of hard to drink.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
355 litre bottle, poured into La Chouffe tulip. A: Bronze, clear, one finger head, decent amount of lacing, lively looking. S: Yeast and phenols took on and beat the hops. T: Followed the nose, started out with some wheaty sweetness which gave way to hoppy bitterness, this was followed by some gummibear and finally gave way to some heavy diacetyl. M: Smooth, decent carbonation, medium to thick body and texture, slight boozy burn on the lips. O: Combined the characteristics one of the stronger pale Leffe offerings with SNPA, did a pretty good job.
