2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Our table had a long discussion trying to figure out what the brewer meant by calling this a "Scottish Porter". Maybe it’s supposed to be something between a Scotch Ale and a classic Porter? Whatever the case, it’s a pretty unremarkable beer. Colour is dark reddish-brown, body is slightly murky. Aroma is weird - more of that iced tea that I got off of their pale ales, and some maltiness. Flavour is rather sweet and one-dimensional. Finish is dry and thin. I just couldn’t get into this one.

3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Marron oscura rojiza, casi opaca. Abundante espuma cremosa y duradera. Aroma plano, nada destaca. Excelente textura, muy cremosa, y agradable sabor con toques de caramelo, algo de fruta roja y un final ahumado muy seco y amargo. Muy buena.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Weak chocolatey aroma. Pours clear brown with a thin tan head. First taste is sour but after a few gulps it gets better, but not what I call a good porter flavor.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
"not nearly as good as Mad River’s Scotch Porter...it tries to do the same things, but the flavors don’t mesh quite as well. An ok beer, but there are too many good porters out there to go here again."

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 27, 2014 330ml poured in a chalice
Quite smooth and refreshing Porter. Delicious smell and taste of American hops. Very drinkable
A: Pours a very dark amber color with a medium fluffy beige head. Decent retention and many laces left around as it disappears
S: Smell is pleasant. Dominated by caramel and smoked malts. Some notes of nuts and coffee. Final is quite flowery and earthy: Good perfume of hops
T: Follows the nose: Dominated by caramel and smoked malts. A bit fruity. Some nuts. Earthy hops. Delicious bitter end
M: Light body. Quite smooth. Bit molasses. Nice carbonation. Finished by a delicious smoked malts/hops bitterness
D: Good. Recommended

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Nothing exceptional, just a typical stout. That being said, it’s not awful, just not something I’ll seek out again.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
A- Pour an extremely dark brown letting very little light pass through.
S- Light grain, toasted malt.
T- Lightly roasted flavor, hints of burnt toast. Not a whole lot going on.
M- Medium bodied with a decent amount of carbonation.
D- There was nothing objectionable about this beer but absolutely nothing special.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle: deep brown pour, some faint clarity near the edges with a khaki colored head that recedes quickly. Aroma is somewhat mild, with notes of light chocolate malt, roast, caramel, & light prune. Taste is a touch watered down with stronger licorice flavors; anise, roast, caramel, notable malt finish with a touch of bitterness, bother from the roast & some moderate hopping. Far from the best in the style, but easy to choke down.
