COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Road Dog was the first label Ralph Steadman designed which later inspired Hunter S. Thompson’s "Road Dog" essay. We then spent four years fighting for the right to display their now famous quote "Good Beer No Shit." To make a long story short, we won. Let us hoist a pint to free speech, NO CENSORSHIP, the genius of Ralph Steadman, and the Gonzo Spirit of Hunter S. Thompson!

Bottle from Wild Oats. Deep brown, nearly black pour. Loose sudsy head that foams up a bit big, then recedes. Deep roasty malt smell, with a bit of peat threaded around it. Taste certainly combines aspects of both porter and Scotch beer. As I said, deep roasties with hints of coffee, plus a tad of smokiness. Works down to a nice dry finish. Hop bitterness is sharp and well-balanced to the malts. A nice warming relaxer for the evening.

12 oz bottle pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of roasted chocolate malts. Taste is much the same.

Bottle. Light chocolate and molasses aroma. Clear deep chestnut with a small tan head. Light roasted malt flavor. Thin watery body. Definitely doesn’t taste like a porter, more like a schwarzbier.

Bottle@ The Cluny, Newcastle. Reddish brown pour with a thin off white head. A little chocolate in the nose. Flavour wise, traces of roasted malt, caramel, dark fruit and some vague bitterness towards the finish. Nothing really standing out though. Pretty thin and uninspiring. Not the greatest offering from Flying Dog. Boo.

In the glass it’s a pleasant milk chocolate color. The faint head fades quickly and leaves a trace of suds here and there. The aroma is beyond faint. It’s a smell like maybe somebody had a porter a few hours ago and you kinda detect it on their breath. The taste is virtually nonexistent. There’s a slight bit of porter aftertaste, but nothing much to speak of one way or the other. At least it doesn’t taste BAD, I guess.

Nice shiny dark brown, with thick tan bubbly tan head. Good retention. No real lacing. Very little aromas, faint scents of barley and grains. Absolutely nothing going on in the nose. Bleh. Mouth is slightly more interesting, but only slightly. Very light body, with some roasted barley, slight caramel sweetness, but all very faint. Overall, pretty dull porter, nothing at special, and for porters, you can do a lot better.

Good beer to beef. Nice pallete, sweet smell. In My opinion the best everyday beer by FD

Meh. Pours dark brown with a small tan head that lasts. Some coffee, some roasted malt, but very light in the mouth with not much depth. Nothing to write home about.

Not terrible, but lacks a certain smooth, thickness. Without much flavor. And a little too much light comes through it.

Usually this brewery isn’t this bad. The label is wrong, this is shit. A super thin, badly sweet porter.
