Aquilo (248), California, USA Oct 16, 2008 Dark brown, almost black. Thin head. Aroma is sour malt and chocolate. A hint of good espresso in there as well. Flavor disappoints a little bit. It’s kinda watery to be honest. But there is some nice complexity here. Coffee and chocolate are the predominant flavors, and it has a nice roasty-nutty flavor going on as well. Nice and smooth finish. iride15 (169), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 15, 2008 12 oz bottle poured black with a small tan head. Light aroma of toasted malt, as is the flavor accompanied with a small taste of coffee and chocolate. Not as bitter as it should be. Medium body, decent combination. kopher (294), New York, USA Oct 12, 2008 Light and mild.
Roasty and fruity aroma and taste, slightly bitter finish. Interesting balance, not bad.
Ryan82SM (231), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Oct 12, 2008 I guess I can smell a little chocolate in the aroma. Dark, opaque appearance, like most porters. Really pretty dull, nothing outstanding. Boring beer, no shit. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Oct 12, 2008 An almost black pour with almost no head and lace. Light aroma of sweet toasted malt. Flavor is a dark toasted malt, coffee. Almost no bitter to speak of but a pretty pleasant drinker. Medium bodied with good carbonation a tad thin but like I said pretty decent. 502Flavors (617), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Oct 10, 2008 12 oz bottle into pint glass. Nearly black good light tan head that lasted alright and left some lace. Nice roasted (almost smokey) smooth aroma. Flavor is a bit watery and very one dimensional - some roasted malt. Smooth medium body on palate. Overall: simple porter, not unique but highly drinkable and balanced. Dango (26), Snekkersten, Denmark Oct 10, 2008 For a porter, this seems quite light if not thin to me. More like a dunkel on very dark malts. But I guess I am an amateur, and I am not familiar with "Scottish Porters". Its not bad, but not quite my taste either.
