lassem (296), Copenhagen, Denmark Aug 7, 2008 Pours a waterish brownish/ light-black with a fading white head. A fresh lacorice dominates the aroma with notes of roasted malts and grains, and dark chocolate. The palate is fresh and a bit tickeling /sparkeling and a little too thin. The taste is fresh with notes of english lacorice, smoke, brown sugars, maltts, and coffée - but not that complex.
Cool label...tribute to Hunter S...nice petermadsen (391), Vesterbronxxx, Denmark Aug 6, 2008 A slightly thin porter with a sweet flavour of caramel, syrup, roasted malt and coffee. The palate really misses a bit and the sweetness doesn’t help on that problem... TBone (6678), Pori, Finland Aug 5, 2008 Bottled (BB 01/2009)
Dark ruby red-brown color, mostly vanishing tan head. Sweet malty, raisin aroma with toasted notes. Malty, a bit fizzy, hints of chocolate, licorice and sweet caramel. In the finish toasted malty and bitterish flavors. Interesting unorthodox porter. faroeviking (6024), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Aug 4, 2008 U.S. rating # 333. Botella. Pours a black colour with a medium beige head. Roasty malty aroma. Rather thin mouthfeel. The flavour is a bit thin with roasted malt, some chocolate and a mild bitterness. sja14 (105), Ohio, USA Aug 3, 2008 First off I must say that, in my best estimation, this is not a porter. That being said, the beer poured dark brown with a thin tan head. Mild aroma of malty roast. The flavor really was flat and malty with essentially no hop presence. Light to medium body. Possibly good for a Scottish Ale but I was looking for a tasty porter. stchloe (477), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 31, 2008 I do not know the exact difference between a Scottish ale and porter. But this hoppier than most Continental porters. rlgk (3377), Vårgårda, Sweden Jul 31, 2008 Dark amber color, almost black. Ratjer small brownish head. Malty, milky aroma, some chocolate. Malty, nutty flavoer with some hops bringing balance to the beer. rayOfBeer (316), El Cerrito, California, USA Jul 30, 2008 Poured fom bottle a clear dark brown with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma is light with sweet malt and just a touch of burnt coffee. Flavor is malty sweet with a little bitter chocolate, burnt roasted grains and coffee. The palate has some malty smoothness to it and a mild bittering with a little hop flavor coming out at the very end. Overall, decent beer, maybe a bit thin in body and slightly too charred, but Iwould drink another, no doubt.
