Commercial Description:
Brewed in the tradition of centuries old Scottish brewing methods, "Road" is reminiscent of a Porter. Road Dog is a rich, malty beer with hints of chocolate and licorice resulting from the use of four prized malts.

Bottle. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a small off-white head. Roasted malty coffee aroma with some hints of caramel. Sweet roasted malty chocolate and caramel flavor with some hints of licorice. Sweetish malty caramel finish with some hints of chocolate in the aftertaste.

Stale smell, malty but not sweet, a little sour. Appearance is a dark brown with a tan head, typical to the style. The flavor is malty, again not terribly sweet, a little bit of nuts. Not terrible. I’ve definitely had better porters though

Dark brown with a red hue and a creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, oranges, caramel and a bit of chocolate. The flavour has a light sweetness, notes of roasted malt, oranges, caramel and light chocolate. It’s a light porter, but charming, especially since the orange notes completely surprise me and they fit so nicely into the overall impression.

Pours black with lively beige head. Aromas are of citrus hops and a bit of malt. No roasty at all suprisingly. Flavor is quite hoppy for a porter, with notes of caramel and a tad of roastyness. Horribly unbalanced- malt character is waaay lacking for a porter. Not smooth either- a bit astringent from an over-abundance of alpha acids. Im normally a sucker for hoppy brews but it just doesn’t work here.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown opaque color with some red highlight and a beige head that has a little less than desirable lacing. I smell lots of chocolate malts and roasted aromas with a hint of nuttiness thrown in there too. Flavor is light coffee with some roasty chocolate. It leaves a sort of pleasant after taste in my mouth. Very simple and has a little bit of a lighter mouthfeel than most porters. This would be a great transition porter for people a little afraid to jump right into the bigger versions of this style.

Bottle: Pours a dark coffee color with a thick caramel colored head. The aroma was strong roasted nuts. The flavor, again, was heavily roasted, with hints of nuts, hops, coffee, did I mention roasted? Overall, a decent porter that might have a tad much roasted qualities.

Bottle. High fluffy but lasting light brown head. Clear dark ruby body. Mild roasted barley malt with a bit of coffee and nutty notes. Flavor is pretty sweet coffee with little hops bitterness but with a bit of berries of unknown origin. Low carbonation, short aftertaste. Rater boring.
