Commercial Description:
Brewed in the tradition of centuries old Scottish brewing methods, "Road" is reminiscent of a Porter. Road Dog is a rich, malty beer with hints of chocolate and licorice resulting from the use of four prized malts.

Pours dark. When held up to light it turns reddish, with some head. Aroma is light, but chocolately. Taste is roasted, chocolate, and a bit of coffee. Palate has a bit of hops, but is slightly watery. Overall, slightly above average.

bottle from nelsons. quite unexciting and thin. subtle roast and dark chocolate, but nothing to shout home about. easy drinking enough, but with import prices not one i’ll pick again.

ABV: 6 % RateBeer rating: 57 Calories: estimated at 150C Volume: 12 fl oz Glass: stem glass Purchased at: Varsity Liquors, Princeton, NJ Price: $1.33 Consumed at: home First Impression: Not great, but not bad. Dark, roasted flavors, coffee and some chocolate, on top of a watery base. Aroma is faint, stale, and chocolate. Visuals are deep brown, with a quickly dissipating head. Taste is roasted, chocolate, coffee, and spices. Palate is top of mouth, somewhat hoppy and long lasting finish. Second Impression is much like the first - not great but not bad. Many others stomp on it comparatively. Aroma: 4 out of 10 Visuals: 3 out of 5 Taste: 6 out of 10 Palate: 4 out of 5 Overall: 14 out of 20

Nearly black with a reddish hue. Slight white head that dissipates quickly but leaves decent lacing. Light aroma with chocolate, caramel, and malt evident. Both smooth and highly carbonated on the palate. The flavor is quite nice. Bitter chocolate, licorice, and malt. Just a hint of dry bitterness at the end. A good porter.

Candied sugar and fruit aroma. Small off white head and nice clarity. Good silky mouthfeel as expected from a porter but not too big of a flavor. The ABV rings through which considering the circumstances is pretty bad. 1. The ABV is pretty low at 6.0. 2. Porters usually have a big malt character and sweetness that counters the acidic and alchoholic tastes best. With that being said. It’s a tasty beer just not in my top 5 porters.

pours to a black dog, not to thin and easy to drink, malty beer, with very faint taste of chocolate malts, nice, refreshing after taste, good balance to it

bottle. dark red brown. taste of caramel and cocoa, with not overpowering aftertaste. unlike a lot of american porters, this one is very well balanced.

from crackedkettle.com - very dark brown colour with a ruby hue, little collapsing beige head; toasted notes of black chocolate with some hoppy tones in the background; good malt body maintained by a fair and regular carbonation; a decent bitterness and a long toasted chocolatey and hoppy aftertaste
