Fairly restrained aroma of murky coffee and touch of choc. Some dark fruits and some cheap end supermarket dark choc. Touch of smoke. But as I say, a very restrained porter, some ashtray towards the end. Drinkable, but restrained and a bit too much ashtray. 2.8/5.0 Re-rate Bottle at EBF 08. Blackberry and blackcurrant comes through. That’s a really good fruity porter, the blackcurrant really sings. Gorgeous. phishpond417 (1914), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

Head was tall and fluffy tan top. Aroma was very pleasent, rich, with a great nutty character- sweet, roasted malts, ginger and a little bit cocoa. bierkoning (6017), La Tropica, Netherlands

Pours deep red mahogany with a small, creamy off-white head. Aroma is softly sweet with a slight chocolate touch. Low to medium carbonation. Flavour is soft, not particularly powerful, subdued chocolate. A little boring. MesandSim (5802), London, Greater London, England
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 21, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle at the Rake. Semi translucent red brown with a good beige head. Lots of earthy malt with a bit of chocolate. Not much happening. Slight hops on the finish but pretty bland all round. Thin palate rounds it off suitably. Furseth (1328), Kungälv, Sweden
