princesslala (37), North Carolina, USA Apr 17, 2008 Not a whole lot of aroma on the pour. I smell a little sweet malt and a little espresso roastiness. It’s a dark brown porter with some nice ruby highlights and a quickly vanishing cream-colored head. Porter is one of my favorite styles and, no shit, this is not a great one. It is thin and watery--the carbonation level is okay. The flavor is a weak burnt malt and a splash of hoppy bitterness. beerbill (1918), Laurel, New York, USA Apr 15, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a dark brown with a moderate cream colored head that disappeared after the frist sip. Weak aroma of lightly roasted malt and not much else. The flavor is fairly subdued with some lightly roasted malt up front and some light hops bitterness at the finish. Light bodied and a tad thin. Given the flamboyance of the label, I was expecting something far more adventurous. As it is, its ok, but not memorable. Enjoyit (1695), Vadum, Denmark Apr 13, 2008 Black of color with a nice beige head. An aroma of roasted malt, prunes, chocolate and weak notes of smoke. A flavor of prunes, sweet notes, chocolate and port notes. BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Apr 8, 2008 Bottle, pours near black with areas that are less dense. Nice frothy, but medium head. Flavors are roasted malts and caramel. Very smooth, but deserves a higher abv. kflorence (93), San Diego, California, USA Apr 8, 2008 Bottle, pours a dark brown/black with an aroma of chocolate, malts, roasted coffee and caramel. Tastes very toasted, slight flavors of coffee and chocolate with a dry hop finish. Very drinkable and tasty. Not the best porter out there, but definitely above average. Prostman (1077), Pennsylvania, USA Apr 7, 2008 This was an okay beer. I would probably try it again and I did get a pretty good deal on the bottle. BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA Apr 6, 2008 12oz bottle from The Lighthouse. Pours black with ruby-red highlights and virtually no head. Smells malty with coffee and caramel. Tastes very roasty - coffee, chocolate and caramel in almost equal amounts. Slight hop bite on the finish. Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Pretty drinkable. A solid tasty brew. Good stuff. rmussman (905), California, USA Apr 5, 2008 Sampled out of a bottle. Pours with a nice little head on it that lasts for quite a bit. Pour is dark brown. Aroma is nice and sweet and taste is pretty sweet with not much but a hint a chocolate. Overall pretty nice brew but lacks any real punch.
