Commercial Description:
Brewed in the tradition of centuries old Scottish brewing methods, "Road" is reminiscent of a Porter. Road Dog is a rich, malty beer with hints of chocolate and licorice resulting from the use of four prized malts.

12 ounce bottle- poured a deep and slightly translucent mahogony brown with a moderate beige head that cleared too quickly for my taste. The aroma was all nuts and smoke. Mouth feel was pleasant and creamy. A lighter taste than most porters. Very nice. Worth a try.

Pours black with a finger of slowly dissipating beige head. Odor of nuts and malt, and a little hint of smoke. Not a really strong taste in there, seems almost slightly buttery with a little hint of hazelnuts. The hops and malts are primarily apparent in the aftertaste, which is bitter and a little smoky. A decent porter, but nothing special.

Decent porter. Pours medium brown with not much head. Light on the malt factor. Only slight hints of chocolate or caramel with a tiny bitter finish.

Nice palate. That’s about all I can say for this beer. Weird for a porter. No roasty, buttery maple/caramel flavor I look for in porters. Relentlessly lingering funky bitterness. Almost a drain pour.

Reminiscent of a Porter? Please. This is a typical porter. The first porter I ever brewed was as good as this, and it was all right. Nothing to see here, folks, keep moving along. Average.

From bottle : Pours a clear brown color, with a whispy white head that leaves spotty lacing. Nose is faint, kinda malty and some sweetness. Taste is malty as well with some alcohol and a little roastedness. Licorice toward the end. Sticky feel with a medium body. Aftertaste isnt really anything. Decent.

Bottled. Dark brown coloured, brown head. Roasted malty nose, chocolate and caramel. Initially sweet malty flavour which finishes more bitter. Somewhat dry. Nice porter.
