Commercial Description:
Brewed in the tradition of centuries old Scottish brewing methods, "Road" is reminiscent of a Porter. Road Dog is a rich, malty beer with hints of chocolate and licorice resulting from the use of four prized malts.

Bottle. Pours an amber color with a small off white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is a sweet malt with licorice and raisin. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is a light malt with a sweet finish. Dont see this as a porter but still a decent brew from Flying Dog.

12 oz bottle. Dark brown with ruby highlights and a medium tan head-appearance just about perfect for a porter. Aroma: chocolate, light hints of roast, crystal and caramel malts. Taste is lightly roasty with more chocolate, some caramel sweetness- medium body. Finishes lightly bitter.

Bottle. Dark brown color - coffee and chocolate flavor - definitely malty doesn’t finish that great - extra points for having the word "shit" printed on the bottle

Pours good copper brown with light tan head that doesn’t stick around. The aroma is interesting, almost like car dealer coffee you drink while waiting to pay for a too-expensive repair. That is good, only because it gets your mind off what’s about to happen-sort of like a last meal it seems. This beer tastes decent and has even a better aftertaste. Not bad for the "dawg."

This beer has a nice dark appearance. It has a nice thin white head on top that fades away rather quickly. The appearance is nice, but it seems to pour rather thin. For a porter I would expect something thicker, but looks can be deceiving. The beer has a very weak aroma. It smells of coffee, but only a little. A malty aroma is obvious, but again it is rather weak. The aroma is not impressive to me. The flavor is decent. You can taste the coffee, and tha malts. The presence of chocolate is also in the beer. If the brewer would have just made the beer a bit thicker, meaning adding more malts, and stepping up the already present flavors, this beer would be awesome. I like that range of flavors, but the palate is so thin it doesn’t allow for the flavors to stick to your mouth so you can taste them. Wish it were thicker, but overall, decent brew.

Carmel chocolate coffee notes in aroma. Near black in appearance with 1/4 in head. Malty with a light bitter kick. A second wave of flavor hits you after downing this one. Little acidic bite in the end. Love the lable. Not a bad doggie.

dark brown in color with a beige head that disappears quickly. Malt aroma with a slight nutty smell. Easy on the palate. roasted malt taste that is slightly sweet folowed by a very mild alcohol after taste. Too weak of a beer to be called a porter.
