There is another note here which I wouldn’t necessarily call licorice (like in the commercial description) as I know it, however I can’t think of a better word to describe it. Otherwise fairly average. Bungalo22 (326), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA

| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jan 6, 2008 Bottle from my beer club. Poured a nice deep caramel-brown color with a thin and quickly-dissipating tan head. Aroma is somewhat sweet, like soda. Taste is slightly malt, slightly smoke, and a whole lot of nothing. Finish was non-existent. This was a total drain pour for me and another miss from Flying Dog. gpekar (223), Maryland, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 5, 2008 A bottle from a Christmas variety pack. It poured a dark brown almost like a cola. There was a thin head that disappeared quickly. The aroma again reminded me of a cola. It had a bit of a smokey flavor. It seemed a bit watery or thin to me not much flavor or much of a finish highibus (427), Mill Creek, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 5, 2008 Dark brown to black porter poured with a slight white head. Slight aroma of malt. Buscuity malt flavor and finishes dry. This was actually one of my cross over beers after Fat Tire. Haven’t had it in years. A decent beer. hammerbeck (101), Kentucky, USA
