mcox90 (618), Wilton, USA Oct 19, 2007 12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium to dark brown with reddish highlights. Cola like in color. Small tan head, no lacing. Dry & light mouthfeel. Tasted a bit of roasted malts with some chocolate flavor although very light. There is a bit of bitterness to it. More of a black & tan than a porter. GG (1613), NorCal, California, USA Oct 19, 2007 Leave it up to these guys to take two of my favorite styles of beer and make them into this abomination. Why do I keep wasting my money on Flying Dog beers? Am I a glutton for punishment? That must be it, because now I have 5 more bottles of this crap. I wonder if I can give them to my brother.....
An aroma of malted iced tea, subtle roasted malt notes and an odd acridness that was out of place. Appearance is cola in color, with absolutely no head what so-ever. A small scummy film sort of rose up to the top and tried to make a foamy cap, but like this beer...it didn’t deliver. Flavor is some mad scientist’s disturbed version of slightly smokey malt and roasted malts but it’s all so damned weak that the lactic sourness is really the only discernable taste and it tasted like ass. Thanks Flying Dog. Allthatisevil (48), alabaster, Alabama, USA Oct 18, 2007 "Light porter" would decribe it. Light choc. flavour. Colour is light black. The berr is just a little weak for a porter. This would be a nice all day drinking beer. Just not my Fav. wickedpete (625), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA Oct 17, 2007 Aroma is weak but shows a smokey chocolatey sweetness. Black with only a layer of tan film for head. Flavor could be a little more intense. Slightly watery bitter chocolate flavor. Not bad, I could drink this on occasion. latneyblunk (40), Kentucky, USA Oct 16, 2007 Updated: Jan 25, 2008Malt is the overpowering character in this beer. Beautiful dark brown with hints of red and a chocolate milk colored head with good retention. Dry malty flavor as opposed to the sweetness I am accustomed to. Not very heavy on the tongue and a little bit over-carbonated which is the only thing I can find wrong with this beer. Overall a fair Porter without the heaviness or sweetness that sets this style off for me. Lubiere (4464), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Oct 15, 2007 A dark brown porter with a thick receeding moka head, big bubbled. A porter with distinct butterscotch notes, fruity and caramelly. In mouth, a light weigth, veering on a brown ale with buttery finale, with light vinous qualities, and honey, but rather short overall. Bought at CJs, Potsdam, Spring 2007. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA Oct 15, 2007 Decent porter. Lots of roasted malt flavors, also some chocolate and caramel. Pretty light bodied. Easy to drink. Not bad. Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA Oct 14, 2007 Dark brown pour with some ruby highlights. Soft coffee notes with burnt dark malt flavor. An OK porter but nothing exceptional.
