TheGrandMaster (1844), Auckland, New Zealand Aug 12, 2009 Bottle. A dark brown with a foamy beige head. A rich, and a little piney, mollass malt nose. A surprisingly light palate, but also dry. A malty flavour that has touches of fruit. Dredd (484), Ormond, Australia Aug 8, 2009 Pour is ruby with nice head. aroma is a bit of cherry, some sweet malt notes.
Flavour is a bit of roast malt, with some choc-berry and a slight drying finish. Only let down is mouthfeel is a bit thin. JK54B (912), Helsinki, Finland Aug 4, 2009 A 0.355L bottle tasted at Hilpeä Hauki. Pale brown head. Dark reddish black colour. Mild nose. Soft malty taste. Not bitter. At the end some hoppiness. Sou not sweet. BeerGestapo (721), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 2, 2009 Brewed in the USA..... Pours a very dark amber color with a small dissipating off white head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel and toffee. Taste is also of roasted malts, and caramel. Mouthfeel is a bit on the watery side with some mild carbonation and a slight dryness in the finish. Overall, It was like drinking flat soda !! rosenbergh (836), Helsinki, Finland Aug 1, 2009 355 ml bottle. Finland.
Dark reddish brown colour with small tan head. Bubbly. Dark roasted malts in aroma with hints of coffee, caramel and some sweetness. Roasted malts in flavour too. Some hints of coffee and nuts and some bitterness also in flavour. Quite thin and cola-like for a Porter. Barrios (851), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jul 23, 2009 Pours a light tan head with legs and a dark brown body. Smells of roasted malts and brown sugar. Flavor is roasted and toasted malts and brown sugar. Finish has a nice toasty brown sugar flavor. Not bad. Could use a bit more complexity...or I could just buy a Gonzo. Blindfolk (8), Atlanta, Georgia, USA does not count Jul 18, 2009 Pours a nice dark amber with a minimal effervescent head. Aroma vaguely smells like copper with a hint of chocolate. Taste is balanced and deceptively smooth. None of the flavors overpower each other; I mostly taste oats, chocolate, and some nuts. Decent aftertaste. Decent beer. coyotehunter (542), , Michigan, USA Jul 13, 2009 Bottle. Pours a medium brown with very little head..Nose is of faint chocolate and a touch of dog poo. Not real anxious to drink this. Huh.....Some fruit background, some cocoa and light coffee up front..lightly floral as well. Im not getting a lot of licorice here..Some hops enter the picture in the finish. A bit watery, big carbonation. Not that good.
