Commercial Description:
Brewed in the tradition of centuries old Scottish brewing methods, "Road" is reminiscent of a Porter. Road Dog is a rich, malty beer with hints of chocolate and licorice resulting from the use of four prized malts.

This beer is far under rated. Great porter in a remarkably subtle way. The chocolate and nutty depth really shows while still remaining refreshing. There is a great scottish ale aftertaste that comes right at the end.

very dark brown with a thin dark tan head....malts and light aroma of dark bitter chocolate....head is gone in about 8 seconds....some carmel in the aroma...medium mouthfeel... nutty taste with some black jelly beans and roasted malts....finishes wirh a black coffee aftertaste... I enjoyed this brew...rating reflects me.....I think it is under rated.

Not a great scotish porter, but not bad. Pours a dark dark brown with a thin white head. It lacks a strong aroma, it’s basically just light malty sweetness. The flavour is pretty good with some notes of caramel and chocolate, and a really good black licorice finish. What sorta of kills this beer in the porter department is the thin watery palate, I really feel if the mouthfeel wasn’t so thin and the aroma so weak that this beer would atleast average around a 4.0.

Ah, this is not what a scottish porter should taste like. Watery, bland, no complexity, just blah. Not enough malts or somthing?

[550-20070821] 355mL (10 mths). Muted woody malt aroma with medium alcohol. Dark brown body with a quick foamy light tan head. Dark malt flavour has some woody nut notes and a bitter finish. Medium-full body. A tasty porter.

Dark brown, very little head, what is there is beige...aroma is distinctively malty with some bitter chocolate notes, body has a nice effervescence for a porter, very fine bubbles, toasty flavor with bitter coffee beans, a nice brew...leaves a nice finish in the mouth, and some creaminess on the taste buds

malts and chocolate, but not too flavorful, i wouldve wished it to be a little stronger... decent middle-of-the-pack porter as you would expect from flying dog
