The aroma is of dark chocolate with a slight tinge of smoke. The taste is of roasted malts and chocolate with a nice smoky roastiness at the end. Not too bad, probably like it better when it is not 95 degrees outside. wernesgruner (45), USA

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 13, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown with a skimpy meager tan head. Aroma was burnt toast and coffee. Flavor was similar to aroma with a bit of chocolate and some thrown in. Hoppiness was understated. Mouth-feel was watery with a film. Finish is sweet and short. An acceptable session ale. SGTHibbert (100), Perry, Iowa, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Aug 8, 2007 Poured from bottle...nice tan head....the aroma is very sweet...molasses and caramel...the flavor is a tad bit shallow, I expect a little more out of a porter...and there was no bitterness to speak of. This is very drinkable but nothing to write home about. Braincage1 (139), Cary, North Carolina, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 7, 2007 Bottle. A deep ruby red in color with a thin tan head. Most noticeable in the aroma is the sweetness -just dead on mollasses. Roasted malt characteristics in there too. A bit weak in the flavor but what is there is nice - sweet from mollasses and a smoky quality vaguely there. An acidic touch works well for this beer but everything just fades too fast. prosqtor (408), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 6, 2007 Pretty decent Porter. Not really a P0orter, there is a hint of barrel aging or something smokier than a Porter should have in there. Plenty of malt, with cocoa and licorice present too. Nice dark color with red lowlights, minimal head.
