SGTHibbert (100), Perry, Iowa, USA Aug 12, 2007 Dark body, sweet aroma. Notes of chocolate and coffee, Hints of molasses and caramel. Very good porter indeed. Eckato (89), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA Aug 8, 2007 Poured from bottle...nice tan head....the aroma is very sweet...molasses and caramel...the flavor is a tad bit shallow, I expect a little more out of a porter...and there was no bitterness to speak of. This is very drinkable but nothing to write home about. Braincage1 (137), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Aug 7, 2007 Bottle. A deep ruby red in color with a thin tan head. Most noticeable in the aroma is the sweetness -just dead on mollasses. Roasted malt characteristics in there too. A bit weak in the flavor but what is there is nice - sweet from mollasses and a smoky quality vaguely there. An acidic touch works well for this beer but everything just fades too fast. prosqtor (408), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Aug 6, 2007 Pretty decent Porter. Not really a P0orter, there is a hint of barrel aging or something smokier than a Porter should have in there. Plenty of malt, with cocoa and licorice present too. Nice dark color with red lowlights, minimal head. SynergyXJ (506), Blacksburg, Virginia, USA Aug 4, 2007 Bottle Dark red/maroon pour with decent head. Roasted malt flavor and aroma. Decent porter. bubbleflubber (885), Collinsville, Virginia, USA Aug 3, 2007 Deep ruby pour with an off-white small cap that diminishes to ring retention and webbed lace. Roasted coffee and chocolate nose... a bit bland, as sums up the rest of the brew. The flavors are slightly sweet and roasted. The finish is adequately bitter. Nothing about the pull is bad, but nothing is overtly spectacular. The mouthfeel is bland... some decent carbonation, and possibly a bit too zesty. The body is medium and smooth, but neither rich nor complex. Nothing screams great. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Aug 2, 2007 Chocolate, roast aroma. More or less black with small head. Nice bitter roast flavor accompanied by some mild chocolatey sweetness. Not as sweet and chocolatey as it smells. A run of the mill porter. A nice discernible hoppiness comes through as it warms rendering it more towards the black coffee flavor. natedoggkc (164), Lenexa, Kansas, USA Aug 1, 2007 Pours black with little head. Lots of chocolate on the nose along with roastiness. Taste is coffee, chocolate, malty, and some hop bitterness. Not a ton of comlexity but easy to drink.
