gunhaver (1024), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 30, 2007 Updated: Jun 5, 2008Fairly enjoyable porter. It’s black and has little head. Aroma is of roasted coffee mostly. Flavor is full of hops and sweet chocolate. Pretty drinkable. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Jul 27, 2007 Bottle. Medium brown color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, coffee / chocolate mild, moderate yeasty. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is creamy, carbonation is flat. BDR (2139), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jul 24, 2007 Dark brown with very faint light brown head. Hops in the nose with faint malt characteristic. Overly hoppy body with faint chocolate malts. pmears (9), houston, Texas, USA does not count Jul 23, 2007 the color of the beer is the color of any normal porter, the smell is of something different though. Instead of smelling undertones of coffee and chocolate, I smell yeast typical of belgian ales. There are chocolate and coffee flavors in this beer but it is the yeast that surprises me. Good beer, not like most porters, but good. ChainGangGuy (2523), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jul 23, 2007 Appearance: Pours a dark brown body with a medium-sized, off-white head.
Smell: Faint aroma of over-roasted nuts and some bitter chocolate. Truth be told, there’s not really much else, aromawise.
Taste: Roasted malts with a sweet tea-like taste and hints of smoke. Very light hop flavor and bitterness in the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Watery texture.
Drinkability: A very lacking beer experience. hayduke (1620), Eureka, California, USA Jul 22, 2007 From a 12 oz bottle this poured a ruby color with a fat off-white head that left good lacing. Big nose of malts, chocolate, and anise. Mouthfeel rich and creamy and flavor is sweet malts, with fruit and molasses. Finish shows a touch of hops. Overall a decent brew and drinkable. bhensonb (4187), Woodland, California, USA Jul 22, 2007 Aroma of chocolate. Brown color with translucency. An off-white head that filmed immediately. A bit thin bodied. Very moderate, almost creamy, carbonation. Lightly smoked malt, slightly sweet, harsh notes like dark chocolate and anise. The dry finish is toasted malt, with a touch of baking chocolate, and a bitter so restrained as to be almost unnoticeable. Extremely drinkable. nearbeer (1833), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 14, 2007 Bottle, stamped 00107FX. Nearly opaque dark brown with ruby highlights. Medium-sized, creamy tan head that lasts with some sticky lace. Aroma is chocolate, earthy spices and sour milk. Flavors of dates, raisins, sourish cherries and cream, graham crackers, molasses, slight bitter herb hops, and some other flavors. Smoky wood and earth notes in the finish, but the interesting sour flavors linger over all others. Don’t think the sourness is supposed to be there, but it makes this one really interesting - almost a blend of a lambic and a stout! I like it. Creamy and medium- bodied, with a lot of acidic-tingle on the tongue.
