Commercial Description:
Brewed in the tradition of centuries old Scottish brewing methods, "Road" is reminiscent of a Porter. Road Dog is a rich, malty beer with hints of chocolate and licorice resulting from the use of four prized malts.

Dark brownish red, with a small tan head. Aroma is toasted malts, chocolate.. Mouth is medium/thin with low carbination. The flavor is dominated by malts, with a little chocolate shining through. Overall not a bad beer, but a little small for a porter.

Keg at kickball. Pours brown with creamy head. Tastes of toasted sugar. Little hops. Light for a porter, but very satisfying.

Predominantly roasted malts...chocolate, licorice, brown sugar, smoke...touches of dryness creep into the finish, making me think that the alcohol was higher than I see listed. Quite a nice roasty Scottish Ale.

Bottle: Pours deep brown with a ruby hue in the light topped by a tan head. Has a mild aroma which is mainly malty and chocolatey with a light nutty character. Average mouth feel with smooth carbonation, but it’s a bit thin in body. Flavor has a bit of roastyness with an ok malt bite. Has light cocoa notes, nutty hints and a roasty finish. Simple, mild, not bad, not memorable.

Muted malt aroma. Dark amber color with not much head. Starts mallow and finishes with a creamy malt bitterness.

Pours a clear reddish brown with an off-white head. Malty, chocolatey, and rather thin. A little bit of roasted malt. Unimpressive.

I wasn’t expecting a whole lot out of this, but I’m pleasantly surprised. Pours a very nice looking dark brown color with a creamy tan-colored head. Aroma is mainly malt with some woodsiness and some black currant. Mouth feel is a little thin, but not too bad. The flavor is dominated by the malt but there are subtle hints of cocoa. Not bad, but not what I’ve come to think of as a porter.
