Commercial Description:
Brewed in the tradition of centuries old Scottish brewing methods, "Road" is reminiscent of a Porter. Road Dog is a rich, malty beer with hints of chocolate and licorice resulting from the use of four prized malts.

Bottle. Pours red-brown with a decent sized tan head. Light chocolate and some bitter roasty aroma. A burnt initial taste with some caramel sweetness finishes with a dry, bitter flavor. Drinkable, but watered down compared to the better porters.

Dark brown pour with nice head. Some caramels in flavors and roasted, some coffee too. Dry and tangy finish but good.

this is not my favorite porter but it’s very good, it’s a burger beer for the fall. Enjoyable

(Sample Date: 2/28/2009 Source:Other) On nitro at the brewery. Roasty, slightly grainy aroma. Dark brown with frothy white head. Roast with a moderate caramelized malt sweetness and flavor. Hefty bitterness. Dry, slightly astringent finish.

Dark, dark reddish brown, cap was off white and thin but had good retention. Intriguing aroma, coffee combined with light citrus hops, not a bad smelling beer but was fairly weak and hard to detect. Bitter burnt coffee, with a touch of bakers chocolate, I really enjoy the nice light taste, its light enough you can have a few of these in an evening and not get bloated, to thin for a porter I believe, watery and a touch flat. This was a good beer but not a great one

(bottle from Weber Street Liquor in Colorado Springs). Pours a very dark brown color. Medium size tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Malt flavor with light hops. Avg duration. Slick texture. Fair lacing. Moderate carbonation.

Poured a pretty clear dark dark brown with a tiny light brown head..oh! it’s gone. Zero lacing..duhhhh. Smell was fresh and had a nice burnt roasted malt, light hops and something sweet. Taste was almost the same with only the burnt roasted malts making any sort of impression - they are really yummy. Good tasting hops and just a hint of alcohol - but it’s there. It does come across on the thin side. Smooth and tangy the mouthfeel was a bit drying, slight alcohol burn and a mild bitter aftertaste. I’ve had better and do not plan to get this again unless I can find a single to compare to other porters.

Pours brown with reddish tint. Nice white head. Malty beer here. But it was just lacking something that other good porters have. Taste was fine and drinkable, just a little weak in my opinion.
