Commercial Description:
Brewed in the tradition of centuries old Scottish brewing methods, "Road" is reminiscent of a Porter. Road Dog is a rich, malty beer with hints of chocolate and licorice resulting from the use of four prized malts.

Bottle. Medium head with medium duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are roast malt, some coffee and licorice as well. Rather mild.

appearance is nice, very dark amber with a one finger light brown head with some lacing that didn’t last..roasted coffee mild chocolate and some light cheerios taste...could be a good start for someone coming into porters and stouts to try first its definitely drinkable, but not one of the best porters out there but a tribute to Hunter S. ain’t bad...

Pours average dark brown with a small tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roast malts and hops. The flavor is sweet and semi rich with upfront roasted chocolate/roasted malts. Has a nice warm end that finishes clean with not much of an aftertaste. A decent porter but I’d rather go for their gonzo porter anyday.

Mild aroma of coffee, molasses and a bit of hop. Dry papery coffee flavor with a bit of charred wood. Pretty watery and weak. Not a very good porter at all.

355ml bottle BB 09.04.09 Ruby highlighted dense black body with tan foam that looks like it wants to hang around. Quite a complex nose; obvious roasted malts upfront dark chocolate, mocha, liquorice, roasted nuts and burnt grain, with undertones of dried fruit, oak, smoke and bread. Long palate, quite a smooth body, carbonation reasonably low, moderate drying roasted astrigency. Dark chocolate malt flavours hit home straight away, cocoa and mocha, very little sweetness to back it up with more burnt nuts and roasted grain flavour in the mix. Toasted oak character emerges later on, as do hints of vinous dark and dried fruits, all of which linger on a bitter dry finish. Yum! Big porter with plenty of flavour, not too rough around the edges and really opens up with warmth.

Moderate hoppy aroma. Average, frothy, off-white head. Fair lacing. Mostly lasting longevity. Clear amber body. Light bitter flavor. Light to medium palate.

Appearance: medium-dark brown with a reddish hint; above average head retention on a below average-sized beige head Aroma: roasty aroma lacks strength; does have some secondary aromas in support: bread, toffee, and caramel; nice noticeable hop presence, which is very enjoyable Flavor: frankly, quite weak; very mild malt flavor; hops are almost more noticeable than malt, which is probably a bad thing for a porter; medium hop bitterness; almost like a dark pale ale, which is not a good thing Mouthfeel: medium body at best

dark pour and slight reddish tinge of red and an off white head. Coffee, roasted barley, and chocolate flavor. Smooth porter on the palate. Overall an above standard Porter.
