Commercial Description:
Brewed in the tradition of centuries old Scottish brewing methods, "Road" is reminiscent of a Porter. Road Dog is a rich, malty beer with hints of chocolate and licorice resulting from the use of four prized malts.

12 oz bottle. Poured dark brown with a thick head. Aroma is all malt. Flavor is malt, but very light for a porter.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown color with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and bitter chocolate. Flavor reflects the aroma. Slightly too thin for a porter.

Poured fom bottle a clear dark brown with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma is light with sweet malt and just a touch of burnt coffee. Flavor is malty sweet with a little bitter chocolate, burnt roasted grains and coffee. The palate has some malty smoothness to it and a mild bittering with a little hop flavor coming out at the very end. Overall, decent beer, maybe a bit thin in body and slightly too charred, but Iwould drink another, no doubt.

Bottle. Dark brown color - coffee and chocolate flavor - definitely malty doesn’t finish that great - extra points for having the word "shit" printed on the bottle

I do not know the exact difference between a Scottish ale and porter. But this hoppier than most Continental porters.
