SirSlarty (68), Reading, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 29, 2008 Is this a new beer? Not a porter and not Flying Dog’s best (speaking as a fan). Very light in color for a porter and doesn’t quite taste right. Tastes more hoppy and slightly fruity than chocolate, malt or coffee. There are certainly better porters out there. A bad aftertaste that I can’t quite describe (another reviewer said ’ashtray’). I suppose that’s where the words "reminiscent of a Porter" come from in the commercial description.
Hansen (1596), Randers, Denmark Jul 22, 2008 Dark brown, amber and clear. Has an off-white head, mostly lasting. Aroma is burnt and hoppy. Flavor starts moderate sweet and finish moderate bitter. Trooper11 (433), Suffolk, Virginia, USA Jul 20, 2008 Clear, dark copper-orange. Sour mash aroma, grassy. Flavor is sour, bitter chocolate. A bit thin Biddle_Brau (86), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Jul 13, 2008 Dark with ruby highlights with a dense white head. Aroma is of roasted coffee while flavor is caramel/coffee. Minimal hop bitterness with a nice pleasant mouthfeel. thebeertourist (1696), Oslo, Norway Jul 11, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a big beige head. Malty , slightly roasted aroma. Mildly roasted flavours teaming up with a bit of nuts and molasses. Overall quite malty impression. Rather good. scrizzz (455), kirkland, Washington, USA Jul 11, 2008 clear very dark brown. dark inviting malty aroma, though from the description, i was expecting some peat. i really dig the flavor here, there’s full roast, lighter body, nutty character and a drawn out hopped finish. great balance between dark roast without a heavy body.
