More cunning than a snake in the bush...Snake Dog India Pale Ale is a Colorado-style IPA, power hopped with specialty hops from the Pacific Northwest. This is the brewery’s hop monster, and the citrus fruit aroma will hypnotize the senses of the most hardcore of craft drinkers. 15 Plato, 60 IBU, Crystal Malt, Warrior and Columbus hops, and dry hopped with Columbus.

Looks nice sitting in the glass. Clear amber color, creamy head, nice lacing. Aroma is nothing to write ratebeer (home) about. The initial flavor has a strange malty sweetness, but the finish has a nice bitter hop flavor. The bottle doesn’t list the bottling date, so age may have affected this beer. Not a standout IPA

Pours amberish golden with an off white head. Slight citrus aroma is evident. Flavor has a touch of grapefruit. Hop bitterness is there but subdued for an IPA.

12oz bottle from BevMo. Poured clear copper with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate sour citrus hoppy & malt aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium smooth bitter finish of moderate duration. A solid drinkable beer.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2010 Dark orange color; aroma of pinewood and citrus hops, even resin; light to medium body, moderate carbonation; flavor mainly of bitter hops with some caramel-like sweetness. Okay, maybe a bit harsh, maybe too light-bodied, maybe lacking the fruitiness a bit, but okay.

Bottle from trade with Capflu. Pours a murky orange color. Filmy head that hugs the glass nicely. Aromas of citrus, bitter hops, caramel, alcohol and a nice floral touch. Fairly bitter with a nice citrus flavor to help balance this out. Nice hoppy backbone to this one. Medium bodied, with a near perfect carbonation level. Slight alcohol taste complements the looooooong bitter finish.

Aroma bready, upstaged by citrus & earthy hops. Appearance deep golden, crystal clear, white creamy head that rapidly diminishes to a thin film. Light sweetness up front, medium-strong bitterness throughut. Slightly salty. Light body, oily feel, soft carbonation, bitter, long finish. Welcome in my kennel anytime.
