More cunning than a snake in the bush...Snake Dog India Pale Ale is a Colorado-style IPA, power hopped with specialty hops from the Pacific Northwest. This is the brewery’s hop monster, and the citrus fruit aroma will hypnotize the senses of the most hardcore of craft drinkers. 15 Plato, 60 IBU, Crystal Malt, Warrior and Columbus hops, and dry hopped with Columbus.

I haven’t had this beer in about 4.5 years; I got a few bottles as part of the Alpha Collection. I’ve had several bottles, and my perceptions of this beer are weirdly inconsistent. At first I thought I detected some defects - off notes, diacetyl, DMS, etc. Then I had it again and it had a weird graininess. But now, here I sit with a bottle and it is pretty good; a touch perfumey with a slightly odd floral after-taste. Strange. Appearance is quite good - sparkling and clear with good head. Aroma is a touch grainy but bitter. Flavor is not a kick-in-the-pants bitterness-wise, but is pretty good, although rather floral. Mouthfeel is average. I got this bottle in the Alpha pack, courtesy of my Dad, who brought it over from Frederick, MD.

From a can. Doughy yeast and nice sticky bitter hops. Beautiful bronze red with lots of lacing and foam. Creamy body and nice long finish. I remeber my first and it’s still really bomb.

WYGLĄD: Barwa ciemnozłota, zamglone. Piana drobno i średnio pęcherzykowa, nie trwała.
AROMAT: Dość intensywny. Żywiczno-cytrusowy. W tle zboża i karmel.
SMAK: Cytrusowe (grejpfrut , pomarańcza). Posmak karmelowo-ziołowy z domieszką alkoholu. Goryczka średnia w kierunku wysokiej, nieco zalegająca. Spore nasycenie.
OGÓLNIE: Bezsprzecznie największym atutem tego piwa jest zapach. Genialny! Soczysty, świeży - bardzo przyjemny. Kolejne piwo od Flying Dog’a i kolejne udane.

Typical big hop hit American styled IPA. Nothing really new to offer. Quite harsh hop flavour. Been done to death.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2016 Bottle. Amber colored with a creamy white head. Fruity nose with aroma of citrus, sweet grapefruit and some resin. Sweet malty notes with caramel as well as some herbal hops remain on the back. Starts sweet and turns quite bitter in the finish, however, the bitterness is balanced and doesn?t get overwhelming. Medium to thick bodied with low carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel and some alcoholic warmth. Light pepper taste, citrus notes are getting weaker in the taste since the bitterness is dominating especially in the finish. Leaves a light bitter fruity finish.
