3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 zach8270 (2816) - Henrietta, USA - NOV 19, 2008
(bottle - 12 oz) Clear amber/orange in color with a fizzy white head. Aroma is light but rather loaded with citrus and floral hops. Slightly sweet as well. Flavor is floral and peppery at the beginning with hints of grassy hops, bitter apple peels, and a bitter citrus flavor. Finishes dry and bitter and lingers on the tongue for a bit.

Draft at beer authority. Average big India pale ale. Mild aroma. Tastes a bit sharp & spicy. Not bad, but was hoping for better.

Appearance is similar to the raging bitch IPA. Smell is faint; caramel, citrus and hops. Taste is bitter and sweet but not bittersweet. Good IPA.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sizzler80 (143) - Dublin, IRELAND - MAY 29, 2012
Bottle: Medium dark amber pour with a thin off-white head and lace. Aromas of hops, malt, vanilla, hint of citrus, grass, aluminium. Bitter from the hops, sweet from the vanilla and citrus. It's a reasonably mild IPA and the abv 7.1% is a little deceiving.
Good though.

Amber coloured beer, the head should be a bit bigger, but it hold ok. good mixture of hops and malts. A nice amount of citrus, some caramel, slightly some spices gets trough, some pine also. Good mouthfeel, and a nice dryness at the end. Good mixture of hops, not bad.

Bottle pours a dark amber color, nice white head. Aromas of citrus, pine and some sweetness. Taste is a nice bitterness with a little caramel. One of my favorite offerings from Flying Dog.

Flying dogs best brew. Smooth taste, great on the palate, and nice aroma.

Malty, with a decent hop backing. I’m a bit dissapointed in this one. Feels like a well bittered scottish ale. Caramel, toffee. And the bitterness.

Mostly bitter pine with some citrus. Decent price point. One of the few Flying Dog labels that manages to look cool and have a funny description, versus many of their labels that manage to just look creepy and vaguely off-putting, with descriptions that sometimes are the same. Also tastes better than many of their other efforts. Took me a while to warm up to it, but I’m getting there. Some IPAs at this price point lower the bitterness and the alcohol to the point where they are getting close to just being pale ales, whereas Snake Dog is clearly on the IPA side of the ledger. I’d generally prefer a Torpedo, but this is close. Generally would take this over the Sam Adams Latitude IPA or the Harpoon IPA at the same price (Though those beers have their place- especially when they go on sale, or when I am looking for something with more of a malt-hop balance).
