2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
I HATED this beer the first time I drank it. True I was new to beer, but it made me scared of IPA's for awhile. Having said that, now I enjoy IPA's. This beer is nothing specail, yet surely not worthy of "HATE"ing. I enjoyed the very lite hops of this brew. It was still somewhat odd. Another flying dog down.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 27, 2014 330ml bottle served in a chalice.
A: Pours a dark orange to copper amber color forming a small thin bubbled yellow color. Good retention and many soapy and molasses lacings left in the glass.
S: Very hoppy in the nose. Skunky, grassy and piny. Caramel malts backbone
T: Follows the nose. Quite pine-citrus-grassy hops bitterness mixed with sweet caramel malts in upfront. American IPA character. Delicious hoppy sting in the end
M: Medium body. Bit molasses. Good carbonation. Nice hoppy, skunky bitter aftertaste
O: Great drinkability. Delicious American IPA specimen

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Obviously been a minute, but I don’t remember this being so different than the newer version, so here’s the same rating: Well balanced well hopped single IPA. Nothing special here, just a good drinking brew, especially in summer!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
This rating is a memory of the old brew. I’ve always been a fan of Flying Dog (and have also long been a fan of IPAs) and remember being very excited to try this years ago. The result was not what I had expected and was a huge disappointment. Having had the newer brew on numerous occasions I have to say it is much more like what I expected out of a flying dog IPA when I first had this a long time ago.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

Sampled many moons ago. Thank God they changed the recipe on this guy. Not that the old stuff was truly bad, but it certainly wasn’t that great. The new recipe is a vast improvement. Nice job from Flying Dog figuring this out.
