UPDATED: NOV 30, 2012 Tap at Roasthouse - pours caramel orange cloudy with medium diminishing white head. Big esters, dried fruit, dark bready malt, raisins and touch of strawberry (as noted). Taste is delicious, with lots bready goodness, malt and dark fruit, with clean finish. Medium lively palate. Very excellent. Approaching the Trappistes, but still some ways to go. (Reaffirmed rating with caged 750 mL bottle. Awesome.)

75cl from Appellation Wines. Pours a cloudy dark brown with a decent head which does disappear quite quickly. The nose has Jamaica cake and demerara sugar. The taste has spicey ginger and this leads into ginger biscuits then a creamy finish. The palate has a really rich texture with a long persistent finish. Overall a really good beer which I’d describe as an Imperial Bitter.

Poured from a large bottle into a trumpet glass to drink. The beer had a rusted copper-brown color with a good-sized, foamy off-white head that had good retention, lacing and cling. Its aroma featured fruits, particularly cherry and some light raisin, with a nice caramel mix, along with some earthy and grainy hops. It had a sweet cherry and fruity flavor, with a lighter mix of caramel, and a somewhat bitter and sour grainy finish. The beer had a fairly wet body with a slight creamy, watery mouthfeel, and average fizz and life.
