Full Disclosure: This beer came to fruition because we saw a gap in our portfolio and we wanted to increase our market share. Sometimes the truth hurts. But most often, it’s damn refreshing. The Truth Imperial IPA--the latest addition to our year-round portfolio-is a hop bomb of some of the most distinct Pacific Northwest hops available today. Its sharp hop bitterness begins with huge pine notes on the nose, which evolve into bright citrus (think grapefruit) and subtle stone fruit flavors.

From a bottle into a pint glass. Piney aroma with lots of background complexity. Lot’s of frothy white head and lacing. Mouthfeel is moderate. Copper color. Taste is mainly pine and some herb. Eh, it was good, but not great. Somehow this rates better than it was. That being said, I had a taste of it on tap and wow, was that much better. I’ll try another bottle and report back.

Nice big tropical fruit aroma, with quite a bit of citrus as well. Pours a clear dark amber with a thin white head. Sharp bite of hop bitterness, with lighter fruit notes, pine, and citrus. Lighter body, with the alcohol well hidden. A nice solid drinking IIPA.

Bottle. Pours a clear and light gold with a fluffy head that dies and leaves aromas of grain dust, honey and a bit of a floral edge. Flavor is malt heavy (honey and bread) with a touch of bananas and peaches but not much in terms of my favorite hops profiles (I’m missing citrus, tropical fruit and/or resin). I was looking for a better bite on this one...

Clear golden/copper pour with a thin soapy head and light lacing .... Aroma of citrusy and tropical fruits, peaches, oranges, pineapple and stone fruit with light pine notes .... Taste is of peaches, tropical notes, stone fruit, citrusy oranges and grapefruits with piney notes and bitter dry hops .... Has a bitter hop bite and caramel malts on the backend.... Finish is bitter, dry and rindy with a lingering tropical fruit flavor .... Very good and sessionable brew

12 oz Bottle from Total Wine and More The ale pours a nice clear amber with an off-white head and modest lacing. There is decent head retention. The aroma of green pine needles greet you. Some hints of citrus but more develops later in the taste. This is medium body ale with average carbonation. The bitterness at 120 IBUs is a mouthful mostly in the back of your mouth. An appropriately aggressive but well timed bitterness pulls the alcohol deep for a warming finish.

Pine and grapefruit nose. Clear amber, medium yellow head. Papaya, rosehip, and grapefruit, good intensity. Very slightly vegetal in the finish. Medium body, easy carbonation, quite bitter.
