COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Full Disclosure: This beer came to fruition because we saw a gap in our portfolio and we wanted to increase our market share. Sometimes the truth hurts. But most often, it’s damn refreshing. The Truth Imperial IPA--the latest addition to our year-round portfolio-is a hop bomb of some of the most distinct Pacific Northwest hops available today. Its sharp hop bitterness begins with huge pine notes on the nose, which evolve into bright citrus (think grapefruit) and subtle stone fruit flavors.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2013 12oz bottle. Nice aroma of mang, maybe peach. Beautiful, dense lacing. But the taste is lackluster: A mixture of thin grapefruit and thin mango which gives way to a chalky finish, that sticks in the mouth for a dusty long while. Pretty sub-average DIPA.

Nice strong IPA that is easier to drink than the Raging Bitch. Perfect from the bottle as it is. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2014 Clear dark golden amber with of white head. Aroma: pine hit up front then grapefruit. Nice palette, not heavy sweet like some imperial IPAs, just perfect maltyness for an imperial. Grapefruit dried fruits. Nice spicy-bitter finish with some boozy heat. I like this one, wish I had five more.

UPDATED: SEP 30, 2014 Tons of citrusy hops on the palate, very dry finish. Well balanced, but no particular malt flavors stand out. Nice light color, perfect amount of foam. Solid West coast style double IPA.

Transfer from BA review on 8-31-13- Poured from bottle into a snifter Appearance – The beer pours a clear orange-amber color with a one finger foamy white head. The head has a nice staying power, slowly fading over time to leave a very light level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma contains a nice bready smell with a large citrus presence. The citrus has many dimension with one being of sweet orange and tangerine, another being a more sour lemon smell and the last being a bitter grapefruit. Mixed with these smells is a little bit of a floral and grassy smells as well, all combining to overall produce a quite nice smell Taste – The taste starts out with a nice bready base along with some sweetness of tangerine upfront. Along with these flavors are some flavors of a bitter grapefruit hop as well as some caramel. The caramel and tangerine get stronger as the taste advances to the middle, maintaining their strength to the end. Along with the increase in the sweetness, the bitter grapefruit grows stronger as well. Unlike the sweet tastes which maximize at the middle of the taste, the grapefruit bitterness continues to gain strength the end, where it is joined by other hop flavors of an earthy and pine nature producing a quite balanced sweet but still nicely bittered taste. Long after the brew is swallowed it leaves a rather bitter flavor on the tongue; one that lingers for quite some time. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thicker and creamier side with the carbonation level that is on the average to slightly above average side. The higher carbonation made it slightly easier drinking and was nice for the fruity flavors of the brew, but did kind of take away from the bitter flavor of the brew. Overall the creamy body made up for this however, with the overall mouthfeel rather nice. Overall – This is a rather tasty IPA overall. It is sweeter upfront and to the end of the taste but has lots of bitter hop at the end to balance the sweet out; then leaving a very lingering but pleasant bitter flavor on the tongue.

12oz bottle pours a near clear golden hue with fair ring of white head. Big stinky nose of citrusy pine with flavor or grapefruit rind and pine needles. Some faint honeylike sweetness, but not honey flavor. Pretty good for the style.

The truth shall set you free. While I don’t want to sound cliche’, this beer really is just another double IPA. Not to say its bad, I love this beer, and the honesty of course, but you can get this from pretty much every respectable brewery. around. Go for the Raging Bitch for something more interesting IMO

Bottled. Appearance is golden. Aroma is tropical fruits and maltiness. Flavor is hop forward and a distinct malt backbone. Mouthfeel is nice.

On tap at Meridian Pint. Pours a clear copper color with a large white fluffy head. The aroma is big oranges, some heavy resinous sweet candies. The flavor is similar: pine, big sweet candied oranges, lemons, some medium bitterness. Clean and good.

The beer is a radiant sunset hue with a thick, soapy, white crest. Aromas of pine, hops, floral notes, biscuit malt. Clean flavor. Hop forward with alcohol pretty well masked. Certainly one of the better offerings from Flying Dog.

Bottle poured a hazy golden amber with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of biscuit, orange zest, pink grapefruit, perfume and light earthiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, earthiness, orange zest and grapefruit zest with a crisp dry lingering bitter finish.
