Full Disclosure: This beer came to fruition because we saw a gap in our portfolio and we wanted to increase our market share. Sometimes the truth hurts. But most often, it’s damn refreshing. The Truth Imperial IPA--the latest addition to our year-round portfolio-is a hop bomb of some of the most distinct Pacific Northwest hops available today. Its sharp hop bitterness begins with huge pine notes on the nose, which evolve into bright citrus (think grapefruit) and subtle stone fruit flavors.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2013 12oz bottle. Nice aroma of mang, maybe peach. Beautiful, dense lacing. But the taste is lackluster: A mixture of thin grapefruit and thin mango which gives way to a chalky finish, that sticks in the mouth for a dusty long while. Pretty sub-average DIPA.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Foggy Bottom. Pours a clear golden color, lots of visible carbonation, large frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of tropical, citrus, candied citrus, peppery hops, mild toffee malts. The taste is bitter hops… citrus, tropical, dank, herbal… with some canned fruits and caramel malt. Medium bodied, strong lingering bitterness, moderate carbonation, somewhat off balance. Decent.

Bottle... Pours clear and lightly golden with a mid-sized, wispy, white head. Decent retention. The nose is of grapefruit, pine resin, muskiness, toffee and caramel malts. Medium-bodied with a slick mouthfeel and modest carbonation. The flavor leans bitter, but not by a landslide. Lengthy, bittersweet, fuzzy fruit and plum finish. Bottle courtesy of growler!

Bottles from Perfect Pour. Nice head over orangish golden clear beer. notable for its big bitter entry, and bit alcoholic.

Bottle. A giant foam head protects this one. The aroma is of mild citrus blooms. But on the palate, this delivers a cloying suction on your salivary glands. Grapefruit, wood bark, even a little cream. (#5590, 7/25/2014)

Bottle. Clear darker rust orange. Herbal, piney and dank grapefruit rind in the aroma, and a touch abrasive. Flavor is sharp bitterness with weed, grass, and some pine. Medium slick oily body. Not bad for threse guys.

Well-balanced and alarming low-alcohol tasting. Lots of citrus and a very bitter finish here. Enjoyed a bottle of this on a park bench at lunch hour near Capital Hill. Good malt backbone.

12 oz bottle shared by jmborggren. Pours a clear orange golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have citrus and resiny hops, toasted bread, caramel, some heat, earthy bitterness to the finish.

A touch hazy, peach and light copper coloured body with a thin one centimetre tall white head. Aroma of honey, light hops and a touch of pineapple, not much else though. Full-bodied; Very rich pineapple, passionfruit, guava and other tropical fruits flavours noticeable up front with some alcohol warmth and a hint of malt. Aftertaste shows a lot of piney and very floral and tropical hoppiness and a lot of depth on the finish. Overall, a nice and very rich Imperial IPA without some of the other flavours and pungency you get from the style, but showing some alcohol and warmth as well. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle for just US$1.99 from Whole Foods in Washington (Foggy Bottom), DC on 24-February-2014 sampled at home in Upstate, New Paltz, New York on 10-May-2014.

Bottle to snifter (shared by jmborggren). Looks good; a transparent golden orange with eggshell head that steadily dissipates into lacing. The scent is fairly bitter (albeit mild) hops. Tastes like it smells, but less robust. Aberage on the palate. Eh.

Poured from 12 oz bottle. Pours yellow amber with finger of off white head. Very hoppy with a good malt background that almost stands up to the hops. It’s a very well executed beer.
