scotch4281 (39), Hollywood, Florida, USA Jul 26, 2008 Tasted like wine... chardonnay or some other white wine. Sampled at Florida Beer Fest BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Jul 21, 2008 Skunky, macrobrewed and plain. Flying Dog continues to be hit or miss. This is no better than a keystone light, etc. TheCaptain (526), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 21, 2008 Another on tap in MD- Yellow gold pour with small white head. Some sour aroma a little off. Slight citrus, grassy hops moves into the pallet. On the body it was rather refreshing, malts balancing it giving a mild and drinkable quality. A little dry hop sweetness towards the finish. The aroma puts me off a little. craftycarl21 (513), South Hero, Vermont, USA Jul 19, 2008 pours golden with small head. aroma is malt and some hints of hops and citrus. Flavor has grass, hay, hops, and slight bitter citrus. Pretty weak mouthfeel, decidedly average beer overall. BiddleBrau (303), Midland Park, New Jersey, USA Jul 13, 2008 Pours golden with thin white head. Slight malty aroma and flavor is citrusy hop bite that is accentuated with the prickly carbonation. Not much to this beer overall. b33r (363), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jul 12, 2008 Light gold color with small white head and no lacing. Rich malty aroma and flavor and light hops. Easy to drink and refreshing. Good all around Breworthy (14), USA Jul 8, 2008 The aroma was not quite good. Sour and astringent scents prevailed and was less than complementary to my senses.
The appearance was quite nice, a perfect golden blonde.
The flavor was less than ideal, astringency overtaking the malt, and leaving a placid bitterness on the tongue. Not quite as refreshing as the crafters intended, possibly due to overextending the Kolsch style.
The palate was even-keeled, on par with others of its class, but nothing special here.
Overall, not a bad blonde, but nothing I would pick up again. I might revisit this if it were on draft at a local spot, but definitely nothing to write home about. On another note, I enjoyed three out of the bottle and they were much more enjoyable, most likely due to the fact that pouring the ale into a glass released its effervescence and the off-putting aroma which consequently tainted the tasting and judging of the final product. checkmatei1 (630), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 30, 2008 Bottle: Poured a golden yellow color with a thin head. The aroma light and malty. The flavor was slightly watered down with some sweetness and a touch of bitter. The overall impression from this beer is it was easy drinking on a nice hot day.
