Transparent and magnifying copper in color with an oily galaxy dust for the head. Aroma emits a traditionally eloquent olfactory, with chestnuts, hazelnut sheafs, toasted munich malt, maple nut and honey oats holistically forming a treatise on English toffee. Flavor produces a full arrangement with chestnut chocolate characteristics. Slightly bitter underbelly meets toffee and chocolate covered wheat bran flakes. Earthy, rich, decadent toasted grain complex strums favorably along the way. Fuller bodied with flavor allusions of ABV. Hints of buttered rum reside under the melded caramel and chocolate composure, finishing with English toffee chocolate chews.

Aug 18, 2008 I’m surprised by the low ratings here, I really enjoyed this one. Nice and hoppy, as noted by GreatLibations. A bit thin on the palate but otherwise a very enjoyable beer.

Aug 12, 2008 750 ml bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a slightly hazy deep amber color with a thin off white head. Very little lacing. Aroma is esters and spice. Flavor is toasted malt and esters. Didn’t get any barrel aging out of this one. Medium body. A slight disappointment but worth a try if someone breaks out.

Jul 30, 2008 Well, wow this was weak. Very thin, with a bit of a caramel then bitter bite. A slight dirty / spice finish. Very weak body for the style. Once again a big bottle of epic fail from Flying Dog. It could be I’m pissed I spent $15 bucks for this.

Jul 30, 2008 Let this bitch warm up a bit. Get it? Cuz it’s flying dog? Yeah? Decent but not great and a little too watery, but it’s got that good bock maltiness and smell. Slightly dug it. Ralph Steadman might make any beer taste better though.

Jul 5, 2008 Corked 750ml Bottle. It pours a clear, dark copper with a quickly diminishing light beige head. The aroma has lots of bready qualities. Sweet caramel is very distinguishable as well. Some fruits are also noticeable, but very light. They seem to be of a darker fruit, such as a ripe plum. There are some subtle hints of alcohol. The flavour is initially of sweet, sticky caramel. Grain and some delicate dark fruit citrus flavours start to emerge. Though, the caramelly sweetness is still dominant. Towards the finish, alcohol becomes noticeable, but very subtly. Sweetness continues up until the finish in which the grains and some light bitterness starts to finally overpower the caramel. In a short amount of time, it goes from being smooth to being mildly dry. This isn’t too bad. But it’s a bit sweet for my tastes.
