Pours black with a dark tan head. Smoky aroma. It has a porter like sweetness. At first it was insipidly but when given time it developed to an interesting and complex acquaintance.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Black with beige head. Aroma is all about smoke, like a smoked sausage. The flavor is really great! Smoke at first, the some roasted tones like really dark chocolate etc, and some nice nice licorice in finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
This beer left me wanting more- too bad they don’t sell it in 6 packs. Very drinkable beer, sugary and smokey. Yum!

MMMmmmMm. This was one hell of a beer. I could see myself sessioning with this mother if they sold it in 6ers. Unfortunately the high price of the 1pt 9oz bottle is crazy for a smoked. But this beer is great and treated me
nicely. Very light flavors in this one, but they are all present and forcefully exerted. Smoke, wood, bacon? and some sugary raw egg too, but in a good way. Very great beer. Sell it in 6 packs Flying Dog, I’ll buy it!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle (750ml). Deep ruby-brown, solid lasting creamy tan head. Lightly smokey aroma, dry sweet and roasty with just the right amount of grassy bitterness. Taste follows, incredibly well-blended and balanced - very, very smooth and creamy. Soft, silky, refreshing on the tongue, mild carbonation and just the right amount of linger - wondrously good - felt like a porter, one I’d drink several pints of.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from Party Town.
Poured a dark brown color with an average creamy cascading brown head that was mostly lasting and good lacing. Heavy roasted malt, smoke and woody aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Heavy smoke bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration.
Standout beer that would go well with spicy food or cigar.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Blackish pour with a tannish head. Aroma of smoke and bitter chocolate on the nose with a slight sweetness. The smoke is not as dominant as you would expect from a smoked beer. Flavors of light smoke with a bit of sweet chocolate and some bitter roast.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
1/14/2009: Flying Dog Dog Schwarz Soked Double Lager has a really nice, deep smoky/char aroma that is just slightly sweet with undertones of smoky roasted chocolate. Woah, totally unexpected flavor. It is very roasty and dry with lots of chocolate and smoke with a lightly meaty undertone. Actually, it tastes a bit like a fire smells like when you pour water on it. Anyways, it has a deep, dark brown color with ruby highlights and a dense, lasting beige to tan-colored head. This is defintely a unique, memorable smoked beer. I like it. It isn’t as smoky as the Aech Schlenkerla Rauchbiers, but it is a great effort and a truly unique style of beer.
