Why is there only one time of year – as goblins, ghouls, and ghosts frolic on front lawns – when we embrace THE FEAR? At all other times, THE FEAR dominates us, controls us, and prevents us from greatness. What is there to THE FEAR? Disagreement? Criticism? Humiliation? Whatever THE FEAR is that consumes you, embrace it, along with this Imperial Pumpkin Ale. Only then will the true artist in you rise up.

Clear, dark brown colour, like strong black tea. Only a light head, very light brown. Spicy and sweet aroma. Licorice. Tastes sweet at first, caramel, then a long bitterness and warming sensation from the alcohol. And pumpkin :P Light carbonation. Slightly sticky mouthfeel.

Aroma of spices, cinnamon, cloves. Like in Christmas beers. Sweet, caramel, malty taste with some spices and alcohol finish.

Lovely clear blood red colour with a thin off-white head. Aroma is fantastic, it smells like Christmas: cinnamon, spices, punpkin. Taste is sweet with a really astringent bitter aftertaste, bit weird. Thin oily texture, light carbonation. I really like some aspects of this beer, but I’m unsure about the whole package.

330ml bottle, deep red pour with a lacing, sweet molasses and caramel malt, pumpkin with spice, cloves and star anise. Sweet to finish with an alcohol kick. A tasty brew for Halloween.

Bottle poured into tulip on halloween, watching Zombie Flesh Eaters. Murky dark brown with thin white head. Smell is very toned down - some port wine and christmas pudding. Body is medium to light with medium carbonation. Taste - initially strikes me as a standard American barley wine - caramel and dried fruits. Slightly smokey. Spearmint, liquorice, coffee. Alcohol well hidden. Overall, it’s a bit confused, but OK.

12 oz. bottle from Dutch’s. Pours a deep but mostly clear brown with reddish amber highlights and an inch of khaki head that fades quickly. Aroma of pumpkin, toasted malts, earth, blended spices: nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice. The flavor has the same dose of spices along with leaves, earth, toasted malts and pumpkin, with a warming alcoholic finish. Light-medium bodied, with medium carbonation and an earthy, spicy, eventually boozy mouthfeel. A little restrained where it could be more interesting.

Bottle. Cola color with a thick off white head. Aroma is pumpkin pie spice and some nuttiness. Taste is banana bread, spice and roasted malt. Faint vanilla note in the aftertaste. Smooth medium palate with appropriate carbonation. This is pretty damn good.

I haven’t tried to many pumpkin ales before but this one I had to pick up. Glad I did. Tasty, lots of pumpkin, sweet yet smooth, lots of body, alcohol very well masked. Tasty

Possibly the best autumn seasonal I’ve tried. The pumpkin is sweet, but doesn’t taste overtly syrupy and sickly. Alongside the pumpkin that hits on the forefront, notes of ginger and nutmeg mingle with a mild wooden barrel sensation to create something surprisingly balanced.
