Bottle. Pours a reddish ruby color with a small head. Nose is cinnamon, nutmeg and pumpkin. Taste is cinnamon with nutmeg, allspice and clove... and rather sweet. Finishes on the same tasting notes with a short sweet ending. Quaff Score 7 / 10

Pours a dark orange brown with a tan head and aroma of pumpkin and spices. Taste is roasty, of spices, with cinnamon, malt, cloves, brown sugar, and pumpkin leading to a long, spice finish. Nice fall brew, not overwhelming while strong flavored

UPDATED: MAY 21, 2014 Drank from bottle 8/16
Reminds me of an American strong ale with pumpkins spices. The pumpkin aroma of the beer is faint. Also smells of vanilla and allspice present. Tastes like a strong ale with little pumpkin, vanilla, bourbon, and some nuts. Overall good beer. I enjoyed how the pumpkin did not overkill this beer. And coming in at 9% strong to boot. Good everyday pumpkin beer for the fall

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Price sticker not on the bottle and the receipt is gone, but I think it was around $2.10 for the 12 oz single.
Pours reddish brown with an inch of beige head.
Smells of deep pie spices: nutmeg, cinnamon... maybe some crust.
Very sweet alcohol with some pumpkin spice, definite crust, and strong lingering alcohol flavor. Almost medicinal finish.

Bottle. 8/13/13. Pours dark brown with a thick, but fast to fade off-white head. Aroma is richer than some other pumpkin ales; pumpkin, cinnamon, spices, molasses, cloves, vanilla, wood. Taste is big; alcohol, vanilla, hint of bourbon, pumpkin, cinnamon, clove, roast malt, all spice; finish is very clean and crisp, pumpkins and bitter fruit skin. Surprisingly, not a lot of lacing. Medium-low carbonation. Chewy, coating mouth feel. This is pretty good. This is a pumpkin ale that will kick your ass.

Wow. yum. This thing rocks. Has a great aroma of pumpkin and spices. Has a flavorful zesty pumpkiny flavor. Very well balanced compared to a lot of pumpkin ales. Im usually not a fan of non hoppy beers but this thing is so rich and yummy. Will drink again

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
THOUGHTS: Sort of like a chocolate pumpkin pie, but a better comparison might be to one of those spiced wafers in the the orange and black boxes. Either way it’s a great. Hid alcohol fairly well.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark brown that was just about black in the glass with bright red highlights and a large, beige head that mostly diminished and left good lacing. The aroma contained light caramel and dark chocolate malts; moderate to heavy yeast; sweet and sour pumpkin; pie crust; spice cookies; and pumpkin pie spices. The initial flavor was lightly sweet and slightly bitter; while the finish was moderately sweet, slightly sour. moderate to heavily bitter and hot from from the spices. There was chocolate, pumpkin, pumpkin pie spices, spiced wagers, roasted malt, hints of alcohol, caramel malt, burnt caramel, lots of yeast, chocolate syrup, and both sweet and slightly sour pumpkin. the medium to full body was somewhat dry with a little heat and fairly fizzy carbonation and a dry, slightly chalky and sort of metallic finish.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with a small foamy tan head that left decent lacing. The aroma was malty and sweetish with notes of toffee, nutmeg and cocoa. The flavor was dry cocoa, nutmeg and cinnamon. Long dry and a bit rough finish of cocoa, nutmeg and cinnamon. Moderately full bodied. Ok.
