Why is there only one time of year – as goblins, ghouls, and ghosts frolic on front lawns – when we embrace THE FEAR? At all other times, THE FEAR dominates us, controls us, and prevents us from greatness. What is there to THE FEAR? Disagreement? Criticism? Humiliation? Whatever THE FEAR is that consumes you, embrace it, along with this Imperial Pumpkin Ale. Only then will the true artist in you rise up.

12 oz. bottle from Dutch’s. Pours a deep but mostly clear brown with reddish amber highlights and an inch of khaki head that fades quickly. Aroma of pumpkin, toasted malts, earth, blended spices: nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice. The flavor has the same dose of spices along with leaves, earth, toasted malts and pumpkin, with a warming alcoholic finish. Light-medium bodied, with medium carbonation and an earthy, spicy, eventually boozy mouthfeel. A little restrained where it could be more interesting.

Bottle. Cola color with a thick off white head. Aroma is pumpkin pie spice and some nuttiness. Taste is banana bread, spice and roasted malt. Faint vanilla note in the aftertaste. Smooth medium palate with appropriate carbonation. This is pretty damn good.

I haven’t tried to many pumpkin ales before but this one I had to pick up. Glad I did. Tasty, lots of pumpkin, sweet yet smooth, lots of body, alcohol very well masked. Tasty

Possibly the best autumn seasonal I’ve tried. The pumpkin is sweet, but doesn’t taste overtly syrupy and sickly. Alongside the pumpkin that hits on the forefront, notes of ginger and nutmeg mingle with a mild wooden barrel sensation to create something surprisingly balanced.

355ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - toffee brown with a red hint and a very thin head. Nose - spicy rich sweet vegetal, like roasted pumpkin and cloves. Taste - more sweet rich and spiciness, definitely a sweet vegetable, confirmed they’ve used pumpkin for sure, Palate - rich in body, creamy in texture the finish is just a little cloying but it is a little big in alcohol though it is definitely big. Overall - I would do this same beer with Belgian yeast just to give it a zingy drinkability.

Pours medium brown with a thick, creamy head. Lots of sticky lacing. Aroma of pumpkin pie spices and quite boozy. Rich, malty sweet flavor with some drying spiciness. Very tasty.

12oz bottle. It pours a brown / ruby color with a large tan head. Aroma is straight pumpkin pie spices with some booze. Taste is slightly sweet with notes of pumpkin pie spices. The booze comes out once it starts to warm up a bit. Mouthfeel is pretty thick with good carbonation.

Sample at Hal & Al’s during the Pumpkin Beer Tasting on 10/15/2013: Pours brown with a medium frothy light beige head that dissipates slowly. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of cinnamon, malt and pumpkin. Medium to full body with flavors of pumpkins, earthy malt and nutmeg. The finish is spicy with a cinnamon and pumpkin aftertaste. Decent overall.
