2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a dark brown color. Not quite stout-y looking, but darker than a lot of pumpkin ales Iíve encountered. The head is a creamy mocha shade, about one finger high. Itís both soft-looking and well retaining, all while leaving a nice ring of lacing down the side of the glass.
S: The spice levels here are strong; lots of ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove here. Thereís something vaguely medicinal here that Iím not sure of, though. Otherwise, touches of pumpkin, brown sugar, and caramel round out the decent aroma.
T: For about a second, itís opens up with a pleasant layer of spices. After that second, problems ensue: the flavors become quite minty to the point of being medicinal. Luckily, the aftertaste is pleasantly roasty. The combination of the minty middle and the alcohol presence sends this one spiraling down into mediocrity - and straight into the realm of crappiness.
M: The smooth body is a welcoming respite...until it dries up on the swallow, exposing some of the harsher flavors. Somewhat boozy, and also slightly overcarbonated.
O: This reminds me that while there are a few rock-solid beers from this brewery (like Raging Bitch), some of their other stuff is painfully mediocre. Like this - actually, no, it kind of sucks. Will not be buying again.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very dark brown colour, complex nose, loads of pumpkin, but banana and sweet cloves too, pumpkin spice flavour disguises the abv, but itís warming effect soon reminds you of its 9 percent. Not an everyday beer, but a great sip by the fire

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
No head but a gorgeous deep ruby colour, loads of spices in the nose, thereís a sort of sharp edge to the taste that Iím not a big fan of but other than that it delivers everything I expected. Tasty but not mindblowing.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
355ml bottle from Appellation Wines - Cheers Ash! Dark brown pour with a 1cm creamy head. High carbonation keeps it in place. Smells like those Christmas biscuits you get at the German market. Clove, cinnamon, ginger. Some roasted pumpkin coming through too, in a burnt sugar way. Taste has a roasted spice bitterness and dark sugar sweet. Sweet like candy. Burnt flavours develop as it warms up. Medium body and just a touch cloying. Sweet finish. One of the better pumpkin beers.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
20 nov 2013, tap. Black with thin, frothy head. Nose is pumpkin but not too much spice, maybe some ginger ale, definitely sweet. Thin body, creamy and fizzy. Really tastes of a combination of pumpkin and ginger ale, with some roasted malt notes. It's a dark ale, not a stout, which I like. Pumpkin has a chance to shine through the burnt flavors.

35cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Dark brown colour, beige head. Aroma of pumpkin pie, lots of spices, cinnamon, mace, clove, nutmeg, dark fruits, liquorice. Flavour has the same qualities, but is less spicy and more malt-forward, some liquorice in the bittersweet finish. Medium to full-bodied. Nice.
